Insurance doesn’t have to cover it. If you’re uninsured, in theory there are programs to help, but it’s worse even than bridge to access.

oh yeah, well aware of paxlovid. it's just insane that even the cost to prevent needing that is so much, and so lovely. every health exec deserves :guillotine:

She wasn't swatted. Swatting is when an actual SWAT team shows up and busts down your door. The cops probably got called because of a domestic issue or something overheard by neighbors.

A better headline would be "Congresswoman Greene has had the cops called on her again, but because her security team said there was no problem the cops didn't investigate further."

look I don't gotta hand it to her but your speculation is just wrong in every way

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-67822887

Tldr: Daihatsu (which is owned by Toyota) had been falsifying side-impact crash tests by testing the cars with parts that they then removed before selling them. Most of the cars found to be hosed with go back to 2014 but cars as old as from 1989 are involved. The cars involved are badged as Daihatsu, Toyotas and some Mazdas but Daihatsu only makes small kei cars so I don't think any of them would have been sold in the US

How is it meaningless? It seems like it should have been done 10 years ago when D.C. legalized weed in the first place, but we had to wait for Biden to get a president who gave a poo poo.

Its exhausting when people poo poo on good and bad things alike. Perhaps letting other people enjoy small victories would generally provide more respite overall. There are plenty of worthwhile things to complain about. The President expanding pardons to non-violent drug offenders really isn't one of them.

Edit: I would also point out that these sort of broad pardons are starting to form a pattern of sorts within the White House. With any hope we might see further commutations and pardons for individuals who have been abused by the criminal justice system.

the count is in:

Biden Pardons 11 People with Non-Violent Cannabis Convictions

quote:

On Dec. 22, President Joe Biden announced that he will be expanding his pardon initiative to include offenses that occurred on federal properties.

“America was founded on the principle of equal justice under law. Elected officials on both sides of the aisle, faith leaders, civil rights advocates, and law enforcement leaders agree that our criminal justice system can and should reflect this core value that makes our communities safer and stronger,” Biden said in his statement. “That is why today I am announcing additional steps I am taking to make the promise of equal justice a reality.”

This includes two actions: First, that Biden will commute the sentences of 11 people serving time for non-violent drug offenses. Second, Biden issued a proclamation that will pardon simple possession and cannabis consumption under federal and D.C. law. “Criminal records for marijuana use and possession have imposed needless barriers to employment, housing, and educational opportunities,” his statement continued. “Too many lives have been upended because of our failed approach to marijuana. It’s time that we right these wrongs.”

I wonder if New York would elect more normal mayors if they weren’t allowed to run for president after. Could NY state pass a law making former city mayors ineligible for presidential primary ballots to keep the ambitious weirdos away, or would the SC strike that down?

remember, its been around since that was sounded like a good idea, since they were founded not too long after we finally got infant mortality below like 50%

babies actually surviving is a fairly new thing, pre-ww2 they often didn't.

And the person you quoted is right. It is exhausting when people poo poo on any progress. He has no say over state level offenses, and I suspect UCMJ pardons, if they come, won't be until after it's been descheduled and a thorough study on long term effects has been done.

I thought we covered this already.
