This decision (assuming it isn't instantly overturned which it probably will be) does actually have the ability to affect the election because Maine is one of the two states that splits their electoral votes. I don't think it could lead to the comedy option of an electoral vote tie, but rather the even more comedic option of a 1 vote margin win due exclusively to the Maine decision.

also the focus on preventing Trump from running in the primary, rather than preventing him running in the general, is funny in light of the whole "parties are private organizations who can do whatever they want with their nominating process" court rulings. but it seems like the plan here is to allow the RNC to kick trump out of the primary while claiming the mean states tied their hands by banning him from the elections. the idea that they'd go to a convention where Trump wins a bunch of states but fails to achieve a majority of delegates because he was blocked from the ballot would be too stupid even for the RNC.
