I read some of it and liked it for what it was but tbqh I don't see how they could stretch 30 seconds long but funny chapters into 24 minutes long episodes that still remain funny. I’ll die in the hill that “Isekai” has attained a specific meaning that makes it a unique genre separate from fantasy stories that may or may not have someone hop through a wardrobe from earth. It’s about themes and poo poo. New Genres are born by accretion from older ones. Deal with it. Like trying to call Doom an adventure game because Myst is also first-person.

Reading isekai about people getting chucked into otome games is giving me a headache because it seems to skip the interesting parts of romance (the characters getting to know each other and develop as people as they affirm their budding attraction for each other) in favor of one of the partners knowing everything about who she wants to date already. What is the point then? I don't want to watch someone do the "romantic" equivalent of playing a ROM hack for a game they already have beaten again and again that lets you date a fan favorite character. This is a great confidence booster for me since I want to be a writer and surely I can do better than this, but it also feels absolutely awful to read

I went back and watched episode 2 of Dark Gathering and was way more into it after bouncing off episode 1 months ago - and then watched it up to ep 8 in one sitting ghosts! they’re fun! and dungeon meishi anime ep 1: also fun!
