Of all the writers, they sure do love putting Swartzwelder in the show. Just watched this episode a few minutes ago and only noticed the sign for the first time.

He's a weirdo recluse who fascinated the other writers because he largely refused to participate in anything other than writing*. He smoked like a chimney, but when they said he can't do that in the writers room anymore, he went to a diner to write his scripts. When they no longer allowed smoking indoors in LA, he bought a diner booth and installed in his home. He's also an arch-conservative who just wants those dang poors to try harder. He wrote Homers Enemy and the entire episode is him just teetering on the cusp of a labor epiphany but refuses to make it and is just steadfast that Frank Grimes is actually correct and doesn't for a second consider that maybe Ol' Grimey is probably going about things wrong. *

Was Swartzwelder the only good right wing comedy writer in history?

Swartzwelder wrote at least one funny book, The Time Machine Did It. I haven't read his other books but that one's great, I recommend it to all fans of classic simpsons. I should probably check out some of his other books, now that I think about it.

Either Mike or Joel of Mystery Science Theatre was 80s conservative, but the line has moved so much since that it’s hard to recognize, and it was never the focus of their humor. Modern USA conservatism is more about the politics than the comedy, but that’s not true across all cultures in all history. So if Will Rogers made a good joke now and then, it’s not the same vibe as Bill Maher.

The right used to be able to appear as functional human beings and tell actual jokes. Now all they have left is observational comedy about how awesome it would be if Joe Biden came to Texas so all the real Americans could shoot him for stealing the election. There's no actual comedians left there, just the least talented wannabe celebrities in history going up on stage and yelling "RON DESANTIS IS GONNA KILL ALL THE GAY PEDOPHILES WHEN HE'S DONE WRESTLING A BEAR BACKSTAGE" to an entire town hall full of white octogenarians whooping and clapping non stop

There actually is a shockingly consistent failed comedian to right-wing demagogue pipeline.

I've never seen Bluey and don't get the references. It seems weird and scary. Now there's some combinatory value you can set your watch by!
