I once accidentally clicked a YouTube short where they made a PC build where the tower was an aquarium (the fish were fake and it wasn't water) and suddenly I was getting the most normie recommendations like car pool karaoke, call of duty highlights and those strange AI spiderman and Elsa on a roller-coaster. Like I'm sure they hit a market with the masses but they are not good for literally anybody at all lol

I got to see a Bristol Old Vic production of Midsummer Nights Dream like a decade ago that used puppets by Handspring (the company that did the puppets for War Horse) and it ruled https://youtu.be/CEsx_nj5qVw?si=qzSVlPpeJou82ggy The highlight was Puck: which was six household objects (like a digging trowel, etc) manipulated by three puppeteers/actors that would sporadically materialize/dematerialize with the pieces coming together to form his body via choreography

There was a show I discovered last year called In The Green, which features one character played by three different actresses with puppets of a Hand, Eye and Mouth, as a representation of a person so fractured by their past as they seek to become whole again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u-3gBpZD8k It's very abstract and interesting. Definitely one of those shows that I wish had some sort of official recording, but you almost never get those for small shows like these, which is a shame. Reading the lyrics for the show it differentiates which aspects of the character is speaking or singing ("HILDEGARD (EYE)") at one time, as opposed to when all three actresses are singing at once (just "HILDEGARD"). Very creative use of puppets, I thought. I think it's easy to kind of dunk on puppetry but there are so many creative uses for it that it's sad to see it get disparaged as just something for kids, and therefore stupid. Even the deciding whether to have the puppeteers visible to the audience can mean SO MANY THINGS depending on the context. With the most recent Milky White example, having the puppeteer visible to the audience the whole time, only to leave the stage when Milky White "dies" is so simple but so loving cool. I'll probably continue to wear a mask at the theater for a really long time, to be honest. Something about COVID shutdown helped me to rediscover my love for musicals. One of my favorite things is finding a composer and picking out all the common chord progressions that show up throughout their work.
