Vrabel fired. Atlanta will quickly hire him to complete the pipeline. Then he can bring in some guy he used to work with as OC who has familiarity with the players and the system.

Dennis Allen is literally Dave Wannstedt on the Dolphins but 20 years later. everyone knows he isn't the guy despite the previous regime saying he's the guy and we're all gonna just have to wait until it's inevitable that he's fired despite everyone knowing he should have been fired the year prior edit: also Todd Bowles is exactly the same now that i think about it lol

How often does a coach turn things around once they're on the hot seat? It doesn't seem like it works out too often.

I don't know if I'd consider Sean Payton's seat hot in 2016, but he did have three straight 7-9 seasons before that great draft of 2017. It was probably warm.

Payton had already won a super bowl with a proven QB. Allen has had a miserable tenure with his first ever winning season in a garbage division, with a QB known for mediocrity. I know you're just playing devils advocate but drat, unless Loomis stops the cap kicking then there's no point in Allen staying another year.

Just eat all the dead money this year. Kick the can no more. Let Dennis Allen fall on the hundred contractual swords. Because its the NFC South and that still might produce a team good enough to win.

It doesn't seem like it works out too often. its rare and i feel like those instances are also ones where you could say they didn't have much talent to work with, had crazy injuries, and/or were in a brutal division. Unfortunately for Bowles and Allen they are in a stupid easy division, have enough talent, and haven't really been whacked by abnormal injuries. Like both guys will get you a mediocre number of wins every year and never look particularly good or smart in any of them

Barudak posted:Trade players. Get rid of the contracts. Sell Dennis Allen for a handful of magic beans. Trading or cutting players accelerates their cap hits for signing bonus into the current year and the Saints have spent the past whatever years turning salary into signing bonus to save cap in current years so trading and cutting those players makes the cap situation worse, not better. The Saints are currently 70M over the cap and if they cut everyone on the team that they could get positive cap space back by cutting that would only cut that number in half.
