Remember the Abortion Doctor in Brawl in Cell Block 99. That poo poo was funny. They have to fly him in from China and his skillset was all about torturing and mangling fetuses. How does an abortion doctor even get to learn that stuff?

It's okay to like whatever you like as long as you aren't a jerk about it unless provoked. There's no fine line between schlock and great art. Many things are both, even more are the former pretending to be the latter.

That's my main complaint about 3BP - it's classic science fiction in the worst sense. There's infodumps, talking heads, convienient scientific breakthroughs, flat one dimensional characters, jostling around to showcase the ideas rather than plot... The Cultural Revolution part was very interesting and came alive in a way that much of the rest of the book didn't.

Never seen his movies but he does cop movies right? Oh and some sort of prison fight movie? Plenty of great movies in the latter genre. I've also heard great things about the Undisputed movies.

what makes them interesting is that he is a "my movies aren't conservative, i don't have an ideology, i'm just making stuff that I think is cool" guy so rather than seeming like he's TRYING to get a specific point across, you get glimpses into the actual mindset of guys like this e: tbf I haven't seen Dragged Across Concrete yet because it's longer than his other ones

like there's all these kind of red herrings about where the movie might go with the relationship stuff in the first act and the prison guard trying to talk him into joining their Boxing club, and it's not that these things don't matter, but once Vince Vaughn is given "the choice" after being put into prison the movie jettisons all of them like booster rockets and it becomes a movie about a man who is determined to punch the entire world in the face
