You gotta think goonier than that. "Hey guys those dipshits running the corn farm put in a bunch of fancy psychadelic carpets, want to go set it on fire and steal their stuff?" Of course that's going to get more interest at ye olde raider camp than the base with dirt floors

VE adds a meme for health care which makes charity necessary and adds a bonus based on the size of your hospital, my hospital is always swanky since we're hotswapping bionics and organs pretty much constantly so now all my dudes have a permanent +10 mood boost for having a dope hospital That worked out pretty well

I believe there is a mod, possibly made by the same person behind hospitality, where you make a hospital and get paid to perform operations on guests.

Yep, it's simply called Hospital: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2992224079 Works really well thematically with the healthcare meme and stuff. I guess to be REALLY charitable you wouldn't charge for care.

I think there's some kind of mod order fuckery or something messing with Combat Extended and armor... why does prestige recon armor have something like ten times the defensive stats of regular recon armor? Why is normal recon armor about as protective as a t-shirt with a duster over it? It seems to have sharp armor rating of about 1mm RHA, while steel armor vests start at around 4mm RHA and are up to 8mm RHA in certain areas.

Basically the only "downside" to the meme is that it's effectively only +5 mood because it wants you to have someone in the Nurse role it adds, and the Nurse role is one of the worst roles possible because it disables literally every work type except doctoring/nursing/surgery, so I just eat the -5 mood from not having one.

Tried out the new Vanilla Expanded Tribal start where you are wild people who don't know how to do anything but make fireplaces and cook stuff. And boy oh boy are manhunter boomalopes fun when you have no ranged units and you have to rely on outdoor treatment with scavenged herbal medicine for wound treatment. Especially when you get a raid for advancing too fast while your best melee fighter is still recovering from the bites he got. At least the manhunter went down instead of dying instantly because that would probably have been a guaranteed restart otherwise.

Razakai posted:Howso? I'm guessing the cost is totally off so it's like "spend 200 silver to get a dozen elite mercenary meatshields". The cost is totally off. You can fend off huge raids for trivial amounts of silver. You can even cheese it by calling down a bunch of mercenaries and harvesting their organs for a tidy profit, the pricing is real dumb. The same mod adds warcaskets, and you can also hire warcaskets as mercenaries. Warcaskets are kind of cool but they're bullshit to fight, it sucks

I would rather fight mechanoids forever than fight warcaskets because it turns out that power armor defensive values in Rimworld's combat engine are balanced around the wearer feeling pain.

I don't like warcaskets because A) they feel tacked on to a pirate supplement (what sort of pirate wants to be a 40K Dreadnaught forever?) and B) the idea makes me sad.
