I knew brother/sister twins from Singapore. They were both 100% fluent in English, but since they went to different schools she sounded like the Queen and he sounded Aussie as gently caress. It was rad.

Speaking of Pennsylvania, was watching a really bad show with Quakers in it, something I thought was made up for the show("Quaker" in swedish(kväkare) sounds like a really made up word if that makes sense) My SO told me it was a real thing and now I now where the name Pennsylvania comes from

When I started learning Russian I hunted for online resources like college courses to help me with progress. I came across a school who had digitized their entire Russian language program from the early 1990s, and decided to give it a watch. I got quite a bit of tonal whiplash when I realized it was from a college in Dallas and that the presenter (a Soviet native) learned English in the deep south.
