there was a video recently where some car was in a wreck and burned up but the stanley coffee cup was intact and the iced beverage inside was still cold. the internet then freaked out and went on a run of buying them up. i was unaware until someone commented on my old stanley thermos and looked up what the fuss was about.

sure this wasn’t for yeti?

at least yeti did the same thing a while ago. i was naive enough to take it at face value initially but now realise it must have been fabricated, why they heck they concerned about their cold drink

I had forgotten about Stanley thermos as a brand, and thought people were getting obsessed about cups made by the cheapo Stanley tool brand you can get at Walmart.

It's the perfect conjunction of blue collar cosplay, limited release nonsense, and consumer fever.

stanley (the tool company) and stanley (the bottle company) are both more than a hundred years old and oddly have never fought a trademark case against each other. which is weird because on any construction site in america you can probably see stanley bottles and stanley tools side by side.

(stanley tools are fine. yeah the modern ones aren't as good as in the old days -- i have a couple of old stanley planes that are great -- but they're better than harbor freight or YAUSOOGOO amazon poo poo)

i guess they come from the era when tool companies were run by regular guys who made tools instead of by avaricious litigious mbas.

I wear some deep amber blue light blocking glasses at night while driving- they aren’t dark enough to prevent the lights being bright (and you can still see things so not actual sunglasses) but it definitely cuts the horrific blue glare

absolutely correct reply; dnb / drum and bass wasn't even a term until later in the 90s

this is jungle

[ASK] me about OS/2 Warp
They're genuinely used pretty interchangeably in the scene, but there is some contextual stuff. sometimes jungle is a subset of dnb. sometimes you're going to a jungle show but it's 2-step breaks and wobbly basslines. those of us in the game recognize the difference, but also don't super care as long as its reasonably close. like you dont call loving pendulum [spits] 'jungle'

this was my thought but it is illegal no exceptions to wear tinted glasses in the UK, though one weird trick would be to just take them off

the local council just did a travel survey about their plans for road safety or whatever (concept: tell local drivers to stop being pricks) and someone in the comments is like "tell car manufacturers to stop these insane led lights!" Which I think is optimistic for local government to achieve

agreed, and these days i mostly say dnb to refer to it. in the context of that question on the show, given the history and the scene early 90s uk, jungle was the right response - dnb was not the term at the time

e: since they mentioned goldie in that clip, for contrast here's a dnb set he did a few years later, released right at the end of the decade
