Ask me about my XCOM and controller collection

word.

I think NSMB is most fun with 3-4 players. Back in the day when my kids were little the wife would actually play and we would have the two of us, and our then 5 year old playing. Our 2 year old would want to play but kept sandbagging us so we gave him the Xbox 360 controller. He thought he was playing but eventually bit the rubbery parts off the analog sticks.

additionally, what are some of your favorite arcade stick / d-pad games in the eshop?

I have the cowabunga collection and the capcom beat em up bundle + a good pile of shmups, but I'm interested to discover more games that might be fun to play with a stick.
I've never really had fun with fighting games though, so unless it's something drastically different from street fighter or mortal combat, don't bother.

I played through almost every Super Mario game this past year and the only one I didn’t think was good was Lost Levels. That poo poo sucks. I was pretty lukewarm on SMB1 and 2 but everything else ranged from good to amazing. Sunshine is flawed and the worst 3D, but it’s still good. The NSMB games are great, if you can’t enjoy them then sucks to be you.

trying to think of a blander, less interssting level than gelato beach, drawing a blank there too.

i've beaten and then 100%d every single mario game...except sunshine. i have not beaten sunshine and probably never will because it is a Bad Game. i'd rather play sonic adventure, at least its shittiness is kinda endearing.

If it absolutely HAS to be Arcade Archives: Sunset Riders.

If it can he whatever: Shock Troopers.

Honestly, there's a TON of good retro games you can get for the switch.

Nah, I didn't need specifically arcade archives, it's just such a large array that I wondered what were some favorites in there.

Pigma_Micron posted:

Yeah, that's kind of an issue. There's so much that might be great, and on top of that, there's surely truckloads of shovelware, and probably a lot of games that were significant for their time, but not worth playing today beyond historical interest. And quite a few retro styled new games, like river city girls, shredder's revenge, andro dunos2.

It's great, and I'm greedy for more. I just want to avoid trash, and stuff that's not really great to play nowadays.
