It turned out the woke pimp was just dozens of FBI agent ghosts in a coat the entire time!

...which also means, based on earlier strips, that this whole porn enterprise is based on FBI ghosts selling things to other FBI ghosts. I'm not really sure how that's supposed to accomplish anything, which I guess makes it perfect for Sinfest.

They already were! But I guess if you didn't say that, Death wouldn't have been able to say this line that Ishida clearly thinks is cool.

As I was saving these a few minutes ago, I got to this one and thought "I mean, this is definitely someone's fetish".

And then this happened. Should I be worried that I guessed right?

Goodbye, Woke Pimp! Looking forward to finding out what the next kind of pimp is.

Well, she's talking to windows now. That's definitely a good sign.

They're probably just supposed to be generic demons at this point, but referring to them as "FBI ghosts" is a lot funnier and there isn't a meaningful difference in motivation.

“Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion”. If you’re a woke corporate stooge, it’s the new standard term for having an office/leadership position/etc. devoted to making sure that you don’t have intentional and unintentional discrimination within your company: doing education, facilitated sessions, and surveys/census to track whether you’re actually a welcoming place to work for minorities, and reporting that out to the company. For example: https://about.google/belonging/diversity-annual-report/2023/

Edit: I’m personally a work corporate stooge, so I’ve helped in DEI efforts in my workplace (though most of those are led by actual minorities because duh). It’s something easily criticized from the left as being more focused on looking good than actually being good, on ending with “oh we have work to do!” but never doing that work, and all of the standard “HIRE MORE WOMEN PRISON GUARDS” stuff where Google’s commitment to diversity is supposed to distract you from it being a giant panopticon controlling your media.

Criticisms from the right are… what you’d expect. Currently right wing Twitter and the person behind Libs Of TikTok are melting down over the idea that an airline could even think to have female pilots, as clearly DEI is to blame for that door blowing off a plane and all recent crashes

I never heard of Phil Hands before, so I spent about ten seconds looking for more about him. All I found is that he's been complaining about the property taxes of his city (Madison, WI) since at least 2010. His 2010 complaint was (paraphrased) "I know that cities need property taxes to pay for infrastructure and services, but the value of my house just went down, so why did my property taxes go up?"

Well, property values in general have gone up in the years since the aftermath of the 2008 housing crash; I guess that hasn't changed his tune one bit.

According to an online property tax calculator, Madison has property taxes of 1.9% the assessed total value of one's land and improvements (housing, etc.). This is significantly higher than Wisconsin's statewide average of 1.51% notably higher than the average of most but not all states.

1.9% is also a little higher than the Green Bay average of 1.7% and well below the Milwaukee property tax rate 2.34%. (Green Bay is the third-most populous city in Wisconsin; Madison is second-most, and Milwaukee is first).

Are high property taxes forcing people to move out of Madison? Uhh... are they forcing people to move out of any city?

According to the property tax calculator, a plot & home worth $500,000 at a 1.9% property tax rate requires $9,500 annual property taxes. Sure, that's an expense, but... compared to what? A very quick look at Zillow shows that monthly rent in Madison ranges from around $1200 to as high as around $3000. Multiply that by 12, and...

Okay, so a homeowner also has to pay their mortgage (if they have one - some are lucky enough to own their home outright) and their water/sewage/garbage bills (landlords usually pay for these the US, but not always). But in exchange for all that... a Madison homeowner has a home. A Madison renter has nothing, plus they can be evicted with notice to move out in 5-30 days, although eviction is legally required to have a justification like "late payment of rent" (no grace period - even one day late is not OK!), "end of lease", or "lease violation".

I really doubt many people are moving out Madison because of property taxes. Some might because of rent, and property taxes are one influence on rent, but I think that overall demand and supply of housing plus the local job market and amenities (which directly affect demand) matter a lot more.

I don't really think people are leaving California's Bay Area or New York City because of high property taxes. I think they're leaving because the overall cost of living is too high even if you have a high-paying job, and property taxes are only a small slice of that. Oddly enough, the property taxes of New York City itself is only 0.98%; it's other major things (high demand, housing scarcity, high-paying finance jobs) that drive up cost of living so high that a lot of people can't afford to live there anymore.

Gonzalo Lira died in a Ukrainian dungeon after suffering torture and receiving inadequate medical treatment.

An American journalist, Lira was in Ukraine to report the truth about the war. For that he was arrested and imprisoned. The US State Department did nothing to help him. Biden ignored him. The tyrant Zelensky showed no mercy because he had been criticized by Lira. The left claims Zelensky is a modern-day Churchill. Nope. He’s a two-bit Stalin.
Adding to the disgrace, the corporate propaganda media all but ignored Lira’s predicament. To be sure, the media was all in a tither when Saudi Arabia executed a Saudi citizen and dissident journalist named Jamal Khashoggi, who had written a few articles for The Washington Post. The media had their dander up about that because it enabled them to blame President Trump. Will Biden receive any blame for failing to aid Lira, who was tortured and left to die? Of course not.

Gonzalo Lira Sr. had this to say:

“The responsibility of this tragedy belongs to the dictator Zelensky with the concurrence of a senile American President, Joe Biden. My pain is unbearable. The world must know what is going on in Ukraine with that inhuman dictator Zelensky.”
