I would say that WWE wrestlers are like Hollywood actors who may bodybuild to portray characters. Even so, they’re more “athletic” as a general adjective than most people who would be considered amateur athletes, so whatever, you can call them professional athletes if you want.

Professional wrestlers, like ballet dancers, are athletes even if there is not genuine competition during their performance.

I mean if we say "competitive sport" I'm pretty sure there's competition versions of a lot of things? Speed basket weaving would be a competitive sport. Log splitting is a competitive sport. If I enter a hotdog eating competition does that mean I'm more of an athlete than a wrestler? I don't think I am for the record. I think I could only manage like three hotdogs, but in fairness I would have them in buns with toppings.

Air Skwirl posted:It's not a competitive sport if the outcome is predetermined. So what does that mean for sports that are illegally fixed? Is there a threshold? If we look at charges in various sports for players throwing or fixing games (like boxing) where does that lie? We talking a zero tolerance policy, or only if it's 100% fixed? If a wrestling match goes a different way than was planned does that make it more legitimate? This is all very confusing and I'd like someone to explain in simple rules please. Edit: if we force all wrestlers to do a competitive sport on the side then we could definitively say all wrestlers are athletes. syntaxfunction has a new favorite as of 04:00 on Jan 16, 2024 |

When his father would get angry he would suplex his mother through the dining room table. And that was really upsetting to johncraig because all that money spent replacing tables could have bought more anime. And yes, you read that right. His father suplexed grandma.
