Not in defense of him at all (AT ALL) but there are states that already do this for all practical intents and purposes by focusing elementary standardized testing on Reading and Math, then tying teacher pay to student performance. It's insidious. Elementary kids in one of Florida's biggest (and bluest) counties, for example, have no functional social studies curriculum until the sixth grade and is often pushed to the side along with science in K-4 in favor of doubling down in tested subjects. 5th grade does have a general science test at the end of the year but teachers are often instructed to drill and kill benchmarks in favor of reading and math, leaving little to no room for interactive activities or critical thinking. But yeah, dude's completely mask off about it.

She had a history of holding lawyers and cops in contempt and was voted out after a long career in the next election.
