This is a great way to put yourself into debt forever if she's rolling the old loan into a new one

quote:

According to an October report by Market Watch, Americans needed an annual income of at least $100,000 to afford a car, at least if they're following standard budgeting advice, which says you shouldn't spend more than 10 percent of your monthly income on car-related expenses.

That means that more than 60 percent of American households currently cannot afford to buy a new car, based on Census data. For individuals, the numbers are even worse, with 82 percent of people below the $100,000 line.

A cycling advocate that I follow made the great point that even this cited statistic is meaningless, because it's not "everyone is traveling at about 25 kph", it's "lots of people are traveling between 5 to 10 kph, and a murderous cohort is speeding along at 60 in-between traffic lights to bring the average up"

Talking about what kinds of cars Americans do or don't want to buy is meaningless in the face of the auto industry's ability to limit their choices and tell them what they want to buy through decades-long ad campaigns.

The kid across the street who bought that long bed F-250, his life is made worse in every way by that thing. He doesn't tow, he doesn't carry anything in the bed, they're all $30K+ used around here if they aren't rotting into the ground. He can't park it without shimmying it back and forth and the combined gas mileage is 13mpg on a good day. But if he drives anything else, that's extremely gay, so F-250 it is.

I'm glad the vehicle stayed at the scene, that's going to make the car judge more lenient when it gets sentenced in car court. Shame that no person is responsible for this though!

quote:

A 15-year-old boy has been pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle in Vaughan.

The boy was struck on a stretch of Weston Road, south of Major MacKenzie Drive, shortly before 7:30 a.m.

He was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, York Regional Police said. But in an update a short time later, police said that he has since been pronounced dead.

The vehicles involved remained at the scene, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage from the area at the time to contact police.

Weston Road is currently closed between Maria Antonia Road and Davos Road/Ashberry Boulevard as police investigate.

People are being advised to avoid the area for the time being.
