She'd get hammered on abortion and there's no answer she gives that won't bleed support. Either she alienates her allies or she reminds people she's of the party that killed Roe and we all saw how well that worked out in literally every election since the decision to overturn it.

I think I can actually write this speech topic, from a GOP perspective even:

"I find abortions abhorrent, but women and families in this country have not gotten the natal and maternity care that they need and deserve. It is shameful, and we do not live up to our foremost reputiation in this world without it."

She'd beat the dems to it because they're still cowed by the GOP denying it to them.

Will she actually say that? "We want to expand the social safety net" is not something they say because cruelty is the point. After all, this is the party that denies kids free school lunches because bootstraps or whatever. This also leaves her open to "okay, so if the fetus is a danger to the woman, is an abortion permissible?" and that's not something you can be mealy mouth about.

Tell me those reasons. What is it exactly that he (Orban) has done that you find laudable?

That actually gets to the heart of the question, rather than framing that I would disagree with. The focus on family policy broadly. The motivation to realize that Hungary has to do something, as most countries in the world outside Africa do, to reverse the decline in the birthrate.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wouldn't consider it impossible, the GOP appear to be able to say and do anything and just get away with it. Probably because their voterbase is indifferent, they just need theirs. She's a good candidate to this extent; electing a woman President would be a huge feather in their cap, as well as some interesting fresh experience, and something to really grandstand on post-Trump.

not to harp on a theoretical speech, but which regressives always vote against natal and maternity care policy increases.

their solution is be rich, and then make The Help raise the kids. whats hername from Fox said that women should close their legs, but than she had a kid and suddenly the goal posted moved to " father leave? lol men should men up and work. "

In a vacuum maybe Haley would do better against Biden than Trump, but we're not in a vacuum. In a world where Haley is the 2024 Republican nominee, either Trump is dead, or is actively undermining her. He would do real damage against the entire Republican party. No way Haley is popular enough to overcome that and beat Biden.

Stand back, this could get messy.

Ask a Trumper what Trump would do to alleviate the issues Repubs have been screeching over and watch them melt down.

Even they know the GOP has nothing to offer. Maybe "shut down border" but besides that, which wouldn't stick legally, they have nothing.

If Haley wins the nomination, Trump won't stop campaigning. He'll run 3rd party, and either the vote gets split (result - Biden wins by landslide) or enough of his cult won't even show up at the voting booth (result - Biden wins by landslide and both chambers of congress turn blue).

If Trump wins the nomination which is much more likely, at this point I have no idea, it's too volatile to make any accurate predictions.
