Personally I don't think someone pointing to a video of white Americans as being before mass immigration really gets anything.

I will not shut up about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I talk about them all the time and work them into every conversation I have. I built a shrine in my room for the yellow one who died because sadly no one noticed because she died around 9/11. Wanna see it?

It looks pretty nice tbh. Detroit was a nice place and seem to get done dirtier by white flight than almost anywhere

2009 is when a lot of homes foreclosed so it makes sense they're still there in 2009 and then got demolished or burned down.

Also yes white flight screwed detroit, in the eighties and nineties. In 2009 and beyond its black residents and homeowners abandoning the city.

Let's be honest: the deep deep racism of the suburban politicians doesn't help the city at all.

I just read this article recently

Thousands of U.S. Cities Could Become Virtual Ghost Towns by 2100

The Detroit graph reminded me of this part

quote:

The authors’ resulting projections indicated that around half of cities in the U.S., including Cleveland, Ohio, Buffalo, N.Y., and Pittsburgh, Pa., are likely to experience depopulation of 12 to 23 percent by 2100. Some of those cities, including Louisville, Ky., New Haven, Conn., and Syracuse, N.Y., are not currently showing declines but are likely to in the future, according to the findings. “You might see a lot of growth in Texas right now, but if you had looked at Michigan 100 years ago, you probably would have thought that Detroit would be the largest city in the U.S. now,” Derrible says.

Eh it’s not the western US if you’re not already correcting for mega churches, but just rising real estate values alone in greater SF area account for nearly every single person who decides to go to Redding, probably bill johnson himself, because, and I can say this as someone who has been to Redding, it is the place you go when absolutely nowhere else in the entire world will let you go there instead
