Nobody ever managed to lay a glove on him. I just looked him up and you could play the SMBA Symbiote to accelerate this. In a higher-point game in golden you even have two other options so the +4 to Impervious could happen on turn one.

Speaking of accelerating things, I got to play a battle Royale for the RFG the other day and I got to play Zod Ursa Non. The first drafter passed on him, assuming he'd never get into the game, but they got in after a couple rounds of barrier and object shenanigans around the horn. Belatedly realized I could have just had Captain Cold throw up a barrier and the rest of my team break the markers to go even faster.

I need some help. Sunday is movie night, 500 points make a team based on a non comic movie. I'm struggling. I really want to do something with the royal flush gang just because I want to run them in a real event but I am struggling to find a movie that fits. Closest I came was gangs of new york. Jack throwing knives is the butcher. King is Amsterdam Ace of Spades Monk Mcginn Ten could be Jenny Everdean No idea who queen could be though. I'd probably fill the last 250 with thugs and such. Any other ideas are welcome, especially if you know any other movies they could work with Morand fucked around with this message at 15:47 on Jan 10, 2024 |

Build a team based on Dutch's squad from Predator - Dutch would be Cable, naturally.

Really, I'd say wait to play them until a more fitting event. Bringing an established comics team to a 'make a team based on a non-comics thing' event feels kinda lame to me. That being said, you could really easily do Alice in Wonderland. Add the Queen of Fables as the Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatter as Mad Hatter, White Rabbit as White Rabbit, and the Gang as the card soldiers.

You could also do Rounders or Casino. Hammerhead or Jigsaw as Joe Pesci or maybe The Rose as De Niro. Gorilla Boss as Don Rickles.

Maybe do a team of the various gangs from The Warriors other than the Warriors themselves and make it a Warrior theme if possible.

I ended up doing Alice in Wonderland Queen of Fables as the Queen of Hearts Gwen Stacy who can become an A-Gwen-ger as Alice White Rabbit as the White Rabbit BTAS Jervis Tetch as Mad Hatter And the gang as card soldiers minus legacy Ace as she didn’t fit Royal Flush Gang are very fun. They did super well and I was happy even though everyone won their bye games against me anyway. Let’s play a game of guess what the other movie teams were Team 1 Lilandra Vulcan A pile of Shi’ar soldiers 2 Brood Queens A bunch of brood. All I’ll say is everyone guesses Alien. It’s not Alien Team 2 Lilandra Star Lord Robot Man Sasquatch A Captain America with a sword Dr Strange Team 3 200 point Hulk Sentry Black Cat Aunt May Scarlet Witch A clear purple wonder man This is a tough one Team 4 Capwolf Rogue as Captain Britain Merlyn at 50 Saturnyne Captain Britain Team 5 Wolverine 400 point colossal orange proteus. I’ll give the answers in 48 hours

Today we had our Royal Rumble event, blatantly stolen from Torrent because it’s fun. We had 7 players so there were 35 entrants. It’s a very fun scenario. It started with Iron Hammer versus Captain America and it did not go well for cap. My black suit Spider-Man came in and stuck around for quite awhile despite consistently hitting one flurry and missing the second. The round got very wet because of a killer croc and Namor shark chase which was important later. The overall Ironman and surprise of the night has to go to Azrael from the Knightfall iconix. He consistently ended up on click 2 and then hit his willlower and healed to click 1 with his flurry. Other turns he chose to make his damage not go below one and his smoke cloud (I kept calling it the green mist) was a terror for many figures. Funniest goddamn moment of the night would be when a hulk charged zarathos and hit him, ending up with 2 tokens next to my Undertaker with a single token. Well the undertaker took one look at that hulk and lifted him for a tombstone and crit hit it, dealing 7 clicks of damage to that top dial hulk. Sadly hulk made his knockback roll because that would have been hilarious if he missed it but oh well. Surprise performance went to Solomon Grundy who can consistently kept healing and not dying and just kept hitting. But the rumble was won by Andy’s prime Symbiote Spider-Man who entered with the very last entry and was too strong to overcome

Morand posted:Today we had our Royal Rumble event, blatantly stolen from Torrent because it’s fun. Sweet! I love that format. Will be running ours this Thursday, and as usual, I'm planning to fill the 'what the hell is that?' comedy entry slots. Got a Handyman from Bioshock, Phoenixbuster Iron Man (against my own rules, but I'm the judge, so screw it), the Great Goblin, and Chemo lined up so far. Steve Vader posted:I love royal rumbles. Can someone please repost the rules? The Royal Rumble 500 points, no theme mechanic. Bring a team of 5 figures, with point values in the range of 50-150. No base sizes larger than 2 squares. Additionally, bring one figure that costs 100 points exactly, these may be added to shore up numbers if we're low. This is one big game, played inside the ring on the Sporting Arena map. Before the beginning of the event, everybody will draw a number for each character. Numbers 1 and 2 will be placed in opposite corners. Each character in the ring will get a turn, starting with the most-recent entrant. Once each character has acted, the next number in the list will be placed adjacent to the ropes. If a character is knocked back over the ropes (or otherwise moved out of the ring, eg Mind Controlled over the ropes), they roll 2d6; if they get under their click number, they are KO'd. Otherwise, they stop their movement adjacent to the ropes. No figures are friendly to each other. Ring ropes count as 'Ropes' for WWE abilities. Last figure standing is the winner. Notes: No themed team mechanics. Characters with blanket effects that trigger on opponent's turns only trigger once when it is not their turn. Characters with effects that work on all characters on the map (for example, the Thanos that says other characters cannot be healed) instead have those effects work within 2 squares. Probability Control and similar effects can be used once on that figure's turn, once when it is not that figure's turn. No effects that could potentially linger past the character who generated them being KO'd can be used (Barrier, Smoke Cloud, bystander generation, beginning the game with equipment, etc) A character may gain ONE Rally die when it is not their turn. In the case of multiple people with the same number for a Rally, the first player to claim a Rally die from a roll will be the one to get it.

One change we made was your click number or lower for the KO roll. Lets you have "Maven DQ's the Undertaker" moments and means you aren't immune to knockback Ko on click 2. Edit: Also isn't the rumble winner dq'd from all future rumble events or is that just a rule I added Morand fucked around with this message at 20:13 on Jan 22, 2024 |

There was a short period of time where Solomon Grundy from Notorious looked like he was going to win it as he just would not die and kept healing. Until a Killer Croc eviserated him. The final 3 were all animal themed. Killer Croc, Rhino, Spider-Man. I think next year it’s time for stone cold to be on my team. I’m going to stun the entire ring.

one of the stores near me has had an influx of old heads playing heroclix, apparently there was a comics shop nearby that only did heroclix outside of comic sales that they used to play at but the owner died. they’re carrying a lot more product now and I noticed that they have a 2024 starter. seems like $40 for four figures is a lot!! Are the sculpts much better now?

The sculpts are, by and large, better and more detailed -- and the starter sculpts are very, very good. Unfortunately, the dials are terrible.

# ? Jan 23, 2024 19:59 |

Yeah, honestly the 2024 starters are rear end. Bad dials for existing players, and also bad dials to learn the game on. They come with little map tiles, which I do appreciate, but they have little slots and tabs on the sides to fit together, so you cannot easily make monstrosities with other map tiles. If you're looking for a learn-to-play product, I highly recommend either of the ones from last year - Batman Team-Up (featuring the Scooby gang and Teen Titans GO!) or Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing (Spider-Man family and five of the Sinister Six). Ten figures and some nice big map tiles for $70. The figures have two dials each, one very basic and one a little more complex, so you can start out simple and get more involved as you learn. I ran learn-to-plays with the Beyond Amazing starter at Gen-Con last year, and it really is a good learning tool. Some of the figures have some neat tricks that make them worth putting on constructed teams, too. I'm kind of dreading teaching with the new starters at Gen-Con this year. There's no escalation in concepts - the dials just expect players to grasp everything right off the bat.

Tonight, I ran our Royal Rumble. We had eight people turn up, so with five entries each we had a 40-figure Rumble. Much like the real Rumble, this one had some distinct phases. Early on, it was the Pulse Wave era, as the new Deathstroke was #2, and the new Blue Marvel was #3, and they just kept blowing up the ring until they were eliminated. My first entry was at #6, with Lord Varatrix from MageKnight, who did surprisingly well. He got an alliance going with the Shadow King, and together (that is, me being Mind Controlled) managed to get the KO on the Blue Marvel. Then Doomsday entered, followed by three straight Wolverines, which turned it into a close-combat brawl for a while. Then Grail entered at #15, and drew the ire of the entire ring due to her blanket -1 attack. But luck was absurdly on Grail's side, and for five straight turns nobody could roll above a 5 to hit her, including SHIELD Wolverine crit missing both attacks of a Flurry targeting her. It turned out that she could only be damaged by DC characters, as slapping Batman and King Shazam finally took her down. In the middle of all this, Carnage Clea slipped into the ring and quietly began earning the longevity record, because nobody wanted to deal with her super-Mystics. She was low points, which made it possible to knock her out of the ring, and I tried a couple times to sweep the decks with a Handman from Bioshock Infinite, but she kept making the rolls to stay in. For a while, only two players had characters in the ring, with a quartet of Wolverines (SHIELD, sword, Phoenix and motorcycle) facing off against Clea, DCeased Wonder Woman, and King Shazam. Clea and Old Man Phoenix ultimately met their fates from the most unlikely of sources, as the 18-year-old Chemo stomped his way out of the Giants collector pack to Poison Clea to death and Force Blast the Phoenix out of the ring. The final two were nicely matched, as Carnage Iron Man faced off against Spider-Hulk. Carnage had almost made it back to his top click, but a couple rounds of the very angry Spider-Hulk slipping past his defenses made short work of it to become the unlikely winner. Carnage Clea survived 16 turns before falling to toxic shock. Outside of the final two, Gamora, Daughter of Thanos lasted the second-longest with 12, due to some potent uses of her healing sword. Surprisingly, the only figure to not survive an entire round was grand prize Apocalypse, who got slapped out of the ring by Batman right before getting his second action. We saw two slapping Batmen, two SHIELD Wolverines, and two triple-Flurry Wonder Women, but no other dupes across the entire field.

I brought Slapping Batman to our Rumble! I had him pegged as a solid dark horse with potential to win the whole thing, and then he promptly missed every Shape Change and Interrupting Slap roll and got eliminated in two turns.

Steve Vader posted:We may need to figure out a WarGames scenario using both WWE and Boxing Rings. I've done a steel cage scenario, but WarGames? The inherent disadvantage of the 'heels have the numbers advantage' segments don't seem like they would make for fun or fair 'Clix gameplay. I guess you could have both teams send a new guy in on the same round, and just represent the numbers game due to one side acting first. Not having any figure able to be KO'd until everybody had entered could be interesting, but it would need to be balanced out by some sort of healing mechanic, maybe if a character begins and ends a turn with no action tokens to represent taking a breather. Or maybe go wild and have it be a Mission Point game instead of aiming for KO points. First one to 20 makes their opponent tap out?
