I went and watched a bunch of unsolved mysteries episodes with Robert Stack recently, since I distinctly remember them scaring the hell out of me as a kid and I wanted to see if they were really as scary as I remembered.

In one word yes, but the salient bit to this conversation is that Oklahoma was hugely over represented in the show. Every other episode had some murderer, rapist, kidnapper, or conspirator heading to Oklahoma in order to disappear. It had about a 50/50 success rate.

For years, the White House Medical Unit, run by the White House Military Office, provided the full scope of pharmaceutical services to senior officials and staff—it stored, inventoried, prescribed, dispensed, and disposed of prescription medications, including opioids and sleep medications. However, it was not staffed by a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy support staff, nor was it credentialed by any outside agency.

It focuses on the Trump administration, but apparently has existed since 2009.

I have to imagine a 2020 Biden/down ticket GOP voter isn’t exactly pleased with the direction of the party at large these days.

That's assuming they pay enough attention to anything to know what's happening. Or that they aren’t fine with the direction and just hate Trump personally. I don't have a lot of faith in that.

Given the unprecedented nature of this election, this is a totally viable strategy for Haley. With DeSantis out, she's all that's left, and there's a good chance Trump will be in jail (or dead) before the election, and the RNC will have to go with someone else. It's right there. And if she still has the backing of the Koch network, she'll have plenty of money.

I hope she sticks it out for the long run, if for no other reason to take shots at Trump, and infuriate him by her defiance.

Unironically both are good news that there's a significant "anyone but Trump" group out there. We'll see how it manifests in the November, I'd rather that the shitheads stay home rather than vote Biden in at the top and then vote mini-Trumps in down the rest of the ticket, but it's a good sign.

Biden is 10000% going to need those voters to vote for him in protest of Trump, and not stay home.

In one interview, a White House pharmacy staff member said an unnamed doctor asked "if I could hook up this person with some Provigil as a parting gift for leaving the White House."

Provigil is a drug that treats excessive tiredness and is typically used for patients with narcolepsy, sleep apnea, and other sleep disorders. Brand-name Provigil is 55 times more expensive than the generic equivalent. Between 2017 and 2019, the White House pharmacy spent an estimated $98,000 for Provigil. In that same time frame, it also spent an estimated $46,500 for Ambien, a prescription sedative, which is 174 times more expensive than the generic equivalent. Even further, the White House Medical Unit spent an additional $100,000 above generic drug cost by having Walter Reed National Military Medical Center fill brand-name prescriptions.

If there is any major counter example to the existence of the deep state it’s that trump has not had a fatal dose of heart medication slipped into his diet coke.

I keep thinking of that one Chris rock movie where he gets reincarnated as an old white dude and when he gets too generous and caring about his fellow man, the white dude’s old business partners just shoot him and are done with it.

We’re all assuming Koch is some super competent, strategic org with the resources and a real plan to get Nikki the nomination, when in actuality they’re probably going to firehouse a bunch of money at a doomed race, bankrupting their org and irrevocably damaging their standing with the conservative movement, losing relevance forever.

Trump is a former president and the presumptive nominee for for over a year now. He also spent quite a bit of time in New Hampshire. He didn't even get 55% of the vote.

I believe this is the same Koch family that took a phone call from a prankster claiming to be the Governor of Wisconsin during protests over his union-busting bill, and just 100% believed it was the Governor because he said so and was recorded talking openly about putting agitators into the protest crowd to start fights and justify a crack-down by capitol police.

I'm convinced that the progeny of millionaires are amongst the dumbest creatures to walk the earth. There's no way that Eric, Junior or Ivanka could be taught actual skills for work, they're all incredibly, deeply stupid and incapable of handling the world handed to them without being surrounded by handlers. The Koch brothers are no exception, dumping money and falling for dumb poo poo, only bailed out by the obscene amount of money to which they've been given access.

It's no wonder these people freak the gently caress out over inheritance and estate taxes, they'd be getting fired from every job they touched from sheer incompetence across their entire miserable lives and unable to afford anything.

The main thing is it’s explicitly illegal to lie to people to get them not to vote; poo poo like “Republicans vote on <real Election Day>, Democrats vote <day after>” or intentionally giving the wrong polling location, etc.

Having a person pretending to be a candidate saying, “Don’t vote,” likely falls under that.

The GOP was under a consent decree forbidding these exact practices (as well as straight up voter intimidation), but it lapsed just in time for 2016.
