Looking forward to seeing what Lilith’s like eventually as well as it seems likely she’s the one holding Alastor’s leash (but at the same time her profile says she hates subservience)

Could be that she hates it when it happens to her or those she cares about, but isn't above using it herself - wouldn't be the first character to be a hypocrite on the show. It could also be a case of Alastor thinking he isn't really that beholden to Lilith (or whoever holds the leash) up until the moment they want him to do something he doesn't want to do and enforces their will on him somehow. I could easily see Lilith's ultimate goals being opposed to Charlie's eventually, and there being some sort of "Charlie asks Alastor to help her out of his own will and Lilith demands him to do the opposite"-thing. Charlie in the pilot did do the 'order' where she told Alastor to help him as long as he wants to do so, a fake order essentially, so I could see there being some sort of parallel to that later by someone giving him some demand while pretending its not an order. Wouldn't be that surprised if Alastor's strength comes mainly from Lilith, he has been stated to have had more power than is the norm for a fresh demon when he came to hell, and that could easily be the sort of leash that Alastor doesn't want to think of as a leash. "Since I've given you this power, do this" sort of thing.

Alastor is pretty much completely the tumblr sexyman bad boy-archetype that tumblrs make fanfics about saving etc, so I kinda presume his plotline also includes choosing to genuinely aid Charlie at some point because that's the sort of writing culture Vivziepop originates from, lol. I think the idea for Alastor was also a really old idea of Vivziepop's, so that could also sort of point towards that, depending on how much the idea has evolved.

Honestly I think the biggest missing thing is that nobody pointed out that Angel's few good deeds do not negate a lifetime, and after-lifetime, of bad. He's improving, but that doesn't mean he would have "balanced the ledger" so to speak. None of which Sera or Adam particularly care to explore, but I suspect redemption might require performing an equal amount of good as you have done bad, not just a few signs of improvement.

This is why I think he's 100% going to risk his own life to save someone, which will ultimatly redeem him (and save him from dying as well). I suspect he'll be gifted a new angelic spider form, but like someone else suggested, choose to stay in hell to help Charlie with the hotel. I'm putting all my cards on him saving Emily's life

Also I thought it was mentioned that Angel’s family were mobsters of some kind during life and all got sent to Hell with him, guess his sister was the exception

On another note, since we already have an Adam and a Lilith I wonder if we’re going to meet Eve at some point too

My chief complaint about the show is that it's moving way too fast. Feels like an abridged version of a story that could be better fleshed out, with these major beats landing harder with some additional character development and world building.

On the other hand, we have enough great animated TV that took the slow road toward where they wanted their stories to go, slipped in favor with the execs, and then either rushed to the finish line or got nothing. Maybe better to start off at a sprint?

Yeah the breakneck pace almost seems on purpose specifically because of so many shows getting 2 seasons and then gettin cancelled. So it seems like Viv wants to get a lot of the important story stuff she's been wanting to tell out of the way in Season 1 instead of spreading out too long and then not being able to finish it. Although I imagine she's going to want to hold on to the Alastor stuff as long as she can

Yeah, watching her interview it sounds like the current big plot line gets wrapped up in season 2 and then she moves onto an other plot line she really wants to do. So i think she is prepared if the show gets the ax.

I was thinking about this last night. Is the show moving too fast? Yeah. Does she really have a choice in this environment? Not especially no and I don't hate anything that's happening it's just happening REALLY FAST. I loving blame the networks for being so prepared to just chop something down without a second thought. loving 8 episodes for a first season is ridiculous at the very least give her 12 or something. More than anything i feel bad for her because the vision is there but she's not given any time to breathe. I pray season two gives the crew more breathing room.

Where would season 2 go from there, though? I could see instead Emily gets booted for resisting the divine plan and Adam coups Sera, leaving the next season building toward all out war instead of the skirmish of the extermination.

I think the really hosed up thing everyone glossed over about Heaven: No one knew how to get into Heaven, they only have Adam's take on it, and he's the least reliable source because he only got in because he was the first. Adam wasn't some holy man, he was just the first man. Asking angels what it takes to get into Heaven and they hesitate is really, really hosed up. Charlie herself should have every right to try to get in because she's born in Hell, it's not like she fell, she was born there.

They trusted the system, if you are good you go to Heaven. If you are evil you go to Hell. They took that as fact and the reality of all things. They don't appear to have asked exactly who makes the decision, what are the basis to be good or not? It's like having a computer and having no idea how it works at all. You know it works so that's good enough. It does the thing it's suppose to do, why bother about the details? One thing I'm left questioning is, where is God? Has he even been mentioned. Heaven has, angels have, yet no one has said God. Does that strike anyone as odd?

Well I can only speculate off of very scant evidence but I think the exterminations are just the symptom rather than the cause of the series overall conflict. There've been enough hints dropped in the artwork of episode 1's intro (look at what the artwork actually depicts, not what Charlie is saying) and episode 6 that there's a bigger mystery to the setting about why Heaven and Hell exist and why dead souls go to their respective places than just Heaven being kind of elitist assholes.

Important thing to note here is most of Heaven is oblivious to both the unfairness AND the exterminations and were just as horrified as Emily. I really like that after all the hints that it's just as bad as Hell that's not the case. But there are enough bad apples and enablers that gently caress up the entire process and make it corrupt as poo poo. I also came to rather disturbing realization. How is Adam recruiting his exorcists exactly? I don't think it's coincidence they're all attractive young women who he apparently brainwashed and remade into his personal army. Is he taking souls that went to heaven after living a good life and picking out the hot ones to serve him personally? Because if so HOLY poo poo is that bad.

my guess is its sorta of a "we happy few" type situation. the system is on autopilot and getting sent to hell or heaven is extreamly random or arbatary. maybe their were rules before but they are either forgotten or disgarded by bad faith fucks like adam and lute. no one remembers how it works outside people who are fine with how the system works.

It illustrates that sinners have the capacity to do good. If they can do one good deed, they can do more. That fact alone should have been enough to upset their status quo.

Sera seemed concerned about her daughter’s soul at the end (and her own I believe) which implies she’s not actually in charge of Heaven (and whoever is can’t be arsed to come down from their high horse and attend meetings like this, which doesn’t really paint them in the best light honestly)

Maybe Charlie went through a pirate phase?

I do kind of wonder what's the origin of the building itself, is it like a mansion that Lucifer gave to Charlie before she ended up developing the Hazbin hotel idea or what. Considering all the bugs infesting it and its rough appearance in the pilot pre-Alastor, it probably was empty and neglected for some time before Charlie started her idea anyway.
