whypick1 posted:https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-unveils-2024-regular-season-schedule I'm really going to miss those Saturday afternoon games, especially in the summer. The thing that really pisses me off is that due to bus schedule changes, I can take a bus to the 7:30 games, but can't get one home, so I have to either beg a ride or uber back; too risky to drive after game day drinking. That decision day game is either going to be spicy as hell, or a complete nothingburger. Both teams are going to look very different next year, so who knows what the hell the standings will look like late season.

Switching from Crépeau to 2023 vintage Lloris who is still going to be more expensive is such a weird nonsense move that I for one hope those crazy kids do it

Drunk Canuck posted:https://twitter.com/MLSMoves/status/1742264815987397116?t=1BMNgXsIKWG-2oSpyOOf0Q&s=19 I'm not a big soccer person, so maybe this is a trend that I'm not aware of, but centering everything on the jersey looks ridiculous. I feel like there's enough familiarity with the design of soccer kits that, even in the US, someone who has never seen a game could see the placement of manufacturer logo<->team crest and sponsor logo below and immediately recognize it as soccer. I'm not sure why you would make the choice to steer away from that.

And yet Miami will have the most bought jersey in MLS next year, probably more than the next 3-5 teams combined soooooooooooooo

I can't imagine replacements would be that much worse, MLS (and CONCACAF) are already pretty bad. Paying then like $50k a season is probably a big reason for that though.

Joey Saputo just hired the next guy he's going to fire at the end of the year. DC and Minnesota still need coaches, and for maximum comedy DC should re-hire Wayne Rooney, qtiyd.

Box to Box Films, makers of the Netflix series Formula 1: Drive to Survive, are doing something about MLS for Apple TV+. Details are sparse. You know what doc I'd like to see? One on the birth of the league. There's a lot of stuff you could talk about, from the 'Americanized' rules of the early days to the fight for survival in the early '00s.

In more "does any team's front office actually read the news at all?" news, FC Dallas tried to sell Jesus Ferreira (e: in a transfer *he* wanted to have happen) to Spartak Moscow before the league reminded them how loving stupid making business deals with anyone in Russia is and nixed the deal. vvv I somehow skimmed over that line, but Dallas' FO still doesn't look good in this for not immediately shutting that poo poo down. whypick1 fucked around with this message at 22:25 on Jan 26, 2024 |
