Just utter insanity. The post was pulled sometime overnight. What's even going through someone’s head when they write something like that? This guy is one of the "big" current BBBY DD writers too.

I just was this in the wild for the first time over in /r/superstonk.

Confirmed: I checked on r/Teddy where the same full realized loss conversation is taking place, and the tone of the conversation is "it says I earned $0 instead of the $0.08 per share the stock was worth (before it was deemed worthless), therefore :smug:"

Saw an ape on r/Teddy challenging the "BBBY shares are now worthless" position with:

an ape posted:

Sell me the rights to your shares for $1 then?

Which would be a rare opportunity to reclaim a not-insignificant amount of sunk costs, on-top of a realized loss tax deduction, if such a thing were at all possible or enforceable

e: assuming the ape meant $1 per share

Your broker technically has a record that it exists it's just hidden because it's worthless. For the right price they'd be willing to sign some papers to move the worthless ownership to whatever broker the new guy wants. Probably like standard stock transfer charges. I guess that's intended for gifts not paying for them, but I'm sure something could be arranged OTC markets exist. Better be serious about it though broker wouldn't find it funny at all to set this up for you to go nah. The less standard the more this will cost in fees to make it happen beyond the sale.

We may be tip-toing into pedantry here, but the shares aren't just worthless, they were canceled. The thing a stock is (an intangable bundle of legal rights that can be sold) no longer exist.

The apes have their own mythology about how the word 'canceled' is deliberately chosen because the stock is expected to return / be replaced with $TEDDY stock / whatever it is this week, so the stock being canceled is actually quite bullish

Yeah, but I was saying that with regard to a transfer agent having a record or some ability to transfer the thing. It doesn't exist so no brokerage would bother.

It's funny because cancellation removes all doubt about the stock; it's gone. Had the registration been revoked you'd still see the completely illiquid shares in your account, with no stock symbol associated with them. They'd be shares in a worthless, privately held company.

It's unlikely that a broker or transfer agent would be willing to facilitate the sale of a canceled stock. Not least of which they are probably sick of apes calling them all the time about said canceled stock.

However it would be trivial to write up a legally binding contract where the seller promised to transfer ownership of the shares (or transfer any cash received due to ownership) if and when it was relisted.

I think this is something Ploot spitballed a while back on PPs show or on Twitter. (Dude is a coke-addled fuckweasel so he tends to just... say stuff.) He mentioned something about looking into buying the "rights" to someone's shares so I'm not surprised it's a new mechanic the apes are running with now.

They are hungry for losing more money on this venture. Moving into an entirely fictitious market selling their shares to each other like the Sears people is certainly fertile ground, but there was a buzz about a week or two ago around figuring out how to continue to buy corporate bonds from BBBY.
