Meanwhile, took me 3 years of working a decent paying transportation job and living with my parents to pay off a 2 year specialized associates degree. They deliberately refuse to understand how severely poo poo has changed because then they'd have to get off their high horse and admit something was easier for them.

That's why I crossed out the sleeping bags part, as a joke (the implication being that that was what the reality of the situation was). Although even that turned out to be an exaggeration - there was a mattress that was behind the paneling in the wall to reinforce it (a terrible idea, but not a criminal one).
