I have to check the sewer vents in case there are audio logs in there

Biggest thing in an ARPG for me is the presence of interesting loot that modifies stuff beyond "more damage" I don't know. I'm not very far into it: It seems to be more Titan Quest-y in skill tree, in that leveling up lets you put into a point and get a percentage up in a stat, which I know some people hate. I like it though.

Pretty much my experience playing a Sister of Battle was "max everything that improved fire, stomp around with flamethrower always on." Including gear choices, frankly. And that carried me through most of the game with mission difficulty turned up like at least 5 levels, especially once Void Crusades unlocked and became a semi-reliable way of getting really high-quality gear. Most of the SoB's special abilities are mostly self-buffs culminating in an "Embodied Saint" super form you can pop once a charge builds up, but it wasn't really worth it compared to Murder With Fire And More Fire. Simple and fulfilling if you're into that, though. Some of the other classes seem more involved with their special abilities, but I haven't bothered with a second playthrough yet.

Orv posted:I would avoid Martyr then. Builds in Martyr are primarily just stacking the right stats to explode entire screens with one click. There’s very little auxiliary item effects. No that's a good thing! I guess I was a little vague, I just want items that do stuff like "your projectiles pierce an additional enemy" or "increased AOE radius" and things like that instead of everything being a stat stick

Martyr is almost entirely stat sticks, about the most exotic item stats get is "increased AOE." The explode the screen just comes from the big weapons with enough damage.

I’m seeing a lot of chatter about Spec Ops The Line getting delisted today. A day before a PlayStation Direct, I’m thinking maybe there’s a remaster about to be announced. Oh yeah, Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters finally got patched to be up to parity with the console versions.

Music lapsed and 2K doesn’t give a poo poo is way more likely than 2K green lighting a remake of a game that sold like five copies in its release window.

This game doesn't seem to have an own thread so putting it here. Spellforce: Conquest of Eo has a new DLC called Demon Scourge coming out on february the 13th. This is from their discord: quote:**A Demon-Stration of Power: SpellForce: Conquest of Eo gets new DLC** I really liked the base game. Interesting game play with a roving base over an enormous map. I think it has done better than expected so that is why this DLC is coming. It is slightly unexpected at least to me as it has been a while since the game launched.

Most of the time movies getting pulled from production is a distribution agreement limitation rather than music or footage limitations.

is that just because movies pay more for better terms or do they get special terms because they are movies

Both probably? I assume music industry big wigs are generally not familiar with video games past Mario but maybe I’m overly cynical here.

TV shows have the same problem as games do, where lots of shows get pulled from Streaming (or never make it to streaming) because they use licensed music. Sometimes they get the licensed music scrubbed out and sometimes that can actually ruin the show, like in the case of Homicide: Life on the Streets where pretty much every scene is cut and edited around the licensed music being used, which I think was sold on DVD without the licensed music at some point. Or maybe that's just why it never made it to streaming, I forget.

Every media exec thinks video games are a baby toy fad, despite 40+ years of evidence to the contrary. This includes ones who work at video game companies.

A huge chunk of the show's identity was the music and it all got replaced with generic royalty free tunes.

Yeah there's a good amount of shows that might as well have different scenes with the generic music they replace the licensed with. About the only one that I can think of that still has the music is something like Friends or Seinfeld, literally the biggest sitcoms around that's never stopped being syndicated. Nothing else has a chance.

On licensed music - 'MIA' from Quantum Leap is just not the same without 'Georgia on My Mind' in the pivotal scene and thankfully the DVD set I own has it instead of some generic lame music.

Music and car licenses are both a nightmare for game preservation. One hell of a problem if you're into arcade racing games. If you own an Xbox 360 or a PS3 and a physical games collection you're probably fine, but anything after that? Lol, gently caress you.

Apparently Suicide Squad is only 9-10 hours long. There's a complete playthrough on youtube which clocks in at 9 hours 45 minutes. I assume there must be some other reason to keep playing after? This is the game that has supposedly been in development for 7 years at this point.

game length isn't really that big a deal in terms of whether a game is good or not, there are more obvious problems with the game than what is a fairly typical AAA game length
