They're a heel faction of belt chasers. The point was to build heat for skilled wrestlers like the Kingdom and Rodrick who aren't over as characters, put Wardlow back in the position where folks got into him -the suffering workhorse for an rear end in a top hat- and give Cole screentime/build to his return when he's healed and they're doing all of that. This isn't a complex story, how are folks missing it? It does suck that it's attached to the wet fart of the devil storyline though tbh

There’s also the fact that what we’re getting now is 100% a pivot based on injuries. Pulling MJF off tv while he heals makes more sense than a guy in a walking boot hollering at a guy in a sling over the next 6 months.

Yeah, which is also why the devil storyline was so plodding. I don't think anyone in creative thought it was brilliant storytelling -it was a holding pattern while they tried to navigate those injuries.
