Holes the book actually owns the premise makes it seem like just a kids versus adults story but at a camp instead of a school but it's basically Surreal Magical Realism For Kids. I think I remember reading Holes but possibly not very much of it. It's pretty drat bleak at the start and I think I didn't have much patience for those kind of stories as a kid. Life was bleak enough as it is.
