First 3DS had a pretty bad battery, it was bad enough that I got one of those bolt on battery expansion things. The XL and everything after were fine though

The thing that really killed 3DS battery life was Streetpass as it made for super short standby times. I'm sure that if you turned that off it'd be fine.

You didn't save much battery life by closing the shell because of streetpass. But if you turned it off, you could have it sit forever and it would barely lose any charge.

Yeah, I was always resetting the system clocks on my PSP and Vita because the battery would fully run down even if the system was completely turned off, but I haven't had to do that for either 3DS yet, when fully off it does keep battery much better than Sony's handhelds at least.

Stuck on that system cause the DS had the best Castlevania games. Portrait of Ruin is so god drat good. I will say these devices have the most confusing model names. DS, DS Lite, Dsi, 2DS, 2DS, 3DS, NEW 3DS, NEW 2DS XL. I had to google orange/white DS to remember which one I had again.

Polymega update for today Installed a bunch more games and have run into a few that just don't run. I have read that you can load alternate bios images for Playstation etc. but I have not started on that process. Played a little bit of Sega CD (Dungeon Explorer) and tried a few playstation games but couldn't get much to run. Bust-a-Move 4 had a terminal freeze. Knuckles Chaotic (32x) just dumped and restarted the machine. Wipeout 3 and Gran Tourismo 2 work fine, but the Tomb Raider games require you play without analog sticks which is terrible. Tried a few controllers today: SteelSeries mac/iphone controller - NO. RAP Sticks - NO (2 different versions) 8bitdo n30 stick - NO 8bitdo Xbox arcade stick - NO iBuffallo cheap SNES usb pad - YES. This was like $5 on amazon years ago and works just dandy.

I miss Streetpass. If you saw the same person enough times in Streetpass Mii Plaza you could send messages that would show up the next time you passed each other. There was some guy at the same train station as me every morning during my commute and we would exchange messages about how work sucks or other dumb poo poo. I never knew which face in the crowd he was!

Speaking of Nintendo street things. A couple years ago, we visited a town in Long Island. I think it was Port Jefferson. That was the only place we saw a lot of people actively catching pokemon on their tablets, after the pokemon fad died down.

Game Gears have some cap issues that still let them power up, but not reach 100% functionality. One of my friends bought a box of game gears that all had bad caps on the audio boards. Mine didn't have that issue when I checked it, but it did have a supremely washed out screen. Still technically playable.

From what I heard people who brought it loved it but its hard to convince people give it a try in the first place? In retrospect Retroid probably should have done the Anbernic thing and make the outside look like a 3DS.

the Flip is good. but it's now outdated with the 4's existence, so i get discontinuing it. but they still offer the Pocket 2s/3+ on the site so idk if they go back to clamshell in the future it's going to have to be with two screens i think. but they'd need a stronger chip & CPU to go along with that
