So far as nuclear trains go, my favorite idea was the one with horizontally-opposed piston engine where the cylinders were filled with enriched uranium hexafluoride gas, and you'd go supercritical on the compression stroke.

I know I'm being unreasonable here, but I don't get how people think they're making good points when they show stuff like this. Any wacko can just say well clearly that was made in a studio and/or CGI. It's like when you call a bigot a bigot, like you really think that's gonna change their mind? I mean the video is neat and all, but it's not gonna pwn the flat earthers

A few weeks ago I saw a video of a Foucault pendulum knocking down pegs and the comments were dominated by one dude insisting that the pendulum doesn't demonstrate that the earth rotates. He kept insisting that he wasn't a flat earther, but also that the earth being round was a "narrative".

It's a silly dunk, not a reasoned argument. At some point you realize that some people have checked entirely out of the reasoned argument group chat and so you just poo poo post at them instead.

I don't quite understand why people wanted to put heavy and complicated machinery on a train though. Rail electrification wasn't exactly unknown at the time…
