Sorry to clarify, poodles are an extremely intelligent hunting dog and need alot of input, mixed with the dumbest most lovable dog imaginable. Their coats suck to groom, they become neurotic because people expect a golden with fancy hair and not a bred hunter sitting around the house playing with the kids

It actually goes: Boomers Gen X Millenials Boomers again Zoomers Millenials Gen Z Boomers somehow again The really young ones TBA It's really pretty simple. Each generation is 2-25 years and the overlap varies greatly depending on moon alignment.

Right, and 43 to 28 isn't "young people", and when millenials were growing up they still got a lot of radio play. So saying "young people don't know about a 50 year old band" is a bit weird when they aren't young people any more, and the band was like 10-20 years old when they were.

I'm over 40 and have never heard the name steely dan irl in my life, only read it on the forums. I Googled their supposed top 20 and could only identify 1, some garbage from the 70s that was already classified as "oldies" music by radio stations in the 90s. Steely dan has never been relevant

Oh well. I only know these three, from growing up listening to my folk listen to' "70s, 80s and 90s" radio. I think they're pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvg5mbM6FGs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfZWp-hGCdA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCgHTmv4YU8 Ironically the first one is about being out of touch with the youngins that you're loving. Hmm. Yes, I honestly don't think there are many people my age who know much about Steely Dan, but then I'm not American. That said, I absolutely agree that it's fine to be into music that went out of style decades ago, no matter how old or young you are. My favorite era in music history is the late seventies/early eighties, about ten years before I was born, just because I'm all about the sound and aesthetics of punk, hardcore, two tone, new wave, power pop, that sort of thing. Listen, they are just not that big of a band, okay? I don't know what kind of radio play they had in the 90s, but if they weren't on MTV in your formative years or your parents weren't huge fans, very few people will know them. I was 15 when they released their last album, lmao. It's not like they were The Beatles of the 70s.

Also probably regional cause I didn't hear a lot of Steely Dan on the radio growing up. I listened to songs linked and I think I know a couple, kind of like how I know that one song from Supertramp. But actually it's really weird and bad to not know the older bands I know so I agree. Everybody laughed at me for staning Bob Beluga and the Talkback Gang but I say they're the outcasts!
