I said it before release, wait six months after release for a more or less fully playable experience and that seems to hold true still unfortunately.

Yeah, if you want a faction that tankies in particular can really get behind, the Genestealer cults are the best option. Less so for other communists/socialists/leftists, not enough opportunity to create splitter caucuses.

Ok, to follow up on this, I finally tracked down why this happened to me. There is an etude called InquisitorLoyal that gets started with some of your final conversation options with the Inquisitor at the end of Chapter 2. If you don’t have that etude started, and you are primarily dogmatic, you can only tell the inquisitor to gently caress off in Chapter 4, because the game assumes that if you are dogmatic you would obviously be loyal and doesn’t actually have any redundancy to that check. Of note, the conversation option where you use Commerce to roll the inquisitor for more support does NOT start InquisitorLoyal.

Without giving too much away there's a bug in the second chapter where due to a cutscene you get teleported to a new location and so you don't automatically know the way out of the zone unless you happen by it later on, but meanwhile if you've done all of the quests for that planet you're spending a lot of time retracing steps to figure out how to advance the story and get out of there. I was on the verge of rage quitting, uninstalling, and waiting until more patches came out until I saw a single line on a steam discussion about what to do and where to go to get out.

Footfall. Have to leave to open up the quarantine zone but you don't know where your shuttle berth is unless you went back and knew it was at a different spot than the one you saw in the landing cutscene.

So I'm sure you can have tankie cults, at least until the cult gets far enough along that ideology ceases t matter.
A Chaos-cult like this would probably have a small vanguard of people who are actually worshipping the fella, probably either Tzeentch or maybe Khorne, but they might well have a strong message that resonates with the public. It's even plausible that a Chaos cult could start things and then get crushed somehow (vehicle accident kills the three actual cultists; their agenda proceeds without them). You could well even have a planetary revolution. The Imperium might not even care... as long as you still make the tithe, of course.

I dunno what to tell ya, I went back to the spot where the cutscene took place and there was nothing. It wasn't until I went to the other end of the docking bay that anything happened to advance the story and even let me leave Footfall. At the very least, I wasn't the only person to be thrown for a loop at that point in the story as several other people posted about it on steam discussions and Reddit.

I figure like in real capitalism, they have to dedicate a lot of attention to jostling for power and anxieties about maintaining their position. IRL high income inequality in a place also correlates with less happy rich people than in places with less income inequality. Plus no matter how high up the chain they get, their bosses are always going to be some real shitheads.

Chaos is a mirror to the Imperium. It's also a dysfunctional authoritarian theocracy, but the elite is even smaller and instead of getting turned into a servitor you get turned into a mutated flesh blob. The only equality is the relatively high likelihood of getting your head chopped off.

the chaos factions are constantly warring with each other, even to the point if one faction, say Nurgle, looks like they might win a major victory against the Imperium another faction like Khorne might drop in to gently caress up all the Nurglites and then leave

Xbox: February 15-23, 2024;

The next patch is the gargantuan sized 1.1 update (1800+ fixes and changes) coming mid-late February.

In it, among the rest:
- Hundreds of bugfixes, intended to cover a major chunk of reported problems, especially where it comes to incorrectly functioning items and abilities;
- A huge chunk of new VO, including characters that previously didn't have a voice at all;
- Some narrative tweaks and new reactivity options;
- QoL UI improvements;
- Yrliet and Marazhai gaining access to a much wider selection of wargear;
- Review of Space Marine stats and wargear - they will hit harder, survive better and will be able to act as a cover for their allies;
- Weapon balancing (including AoE and grenades);
- Encounter balancing;
- Archetype and ability balancing;
- Limitations to out-of-order turn spam (For example, "Bring it down!" will be limited to 1 per character per round, and "Move Move Move!" will disallow usage of damaging abilities, even if they are free);
- And more! Updates to this list will be coming as we process the patch notes.

I got to a point where I can finally explore the sector and the bugginess became more noticeable now that the fights take up more time. Gamepad controls (playing on Steam Deck) are fine but there are some uncool bugs there, like sometimes I open enemy details screen and get stuck there. Guess I'll wait for 1.1.

Honestly I only run with one officer anways so this is a negligible change.

It does mean that duel officer set ups are now restricted to using 2 separate characters for damage spam, boo hoo.

I do want to know what they mean by weapon balance, as aoe and grenades are basically fun toys in act 3 and beyond. Any single shot/aoe heavy weapon is practically cosmetic by that point in the game as well.

Also, and I hate admitting this, the fact that 1.1 is going to include a 'massive' amount of new VO kind of confirms that the game at 1.0 launch was not complete since I really doubt they suddenly decided to hire and record a ton of VO lines in the last few months.
