A.F. Branco Al Goodwyn Andy Marlette Bob Gorrell Chip Bok Michael Ramirez Steve Kelley Tom Stiglich I'm going to take this opportunity to append this hateful doodle with a related fun fact. The creator of the Love Is... cartoons, Kim Casali, was the focus of some controversy in the late 1970s. In 1975 her husband Roberto was diagnosed with testicular cancer. They decided to have some of his sperm frozen, and after her husband passed away in 1976, she decided to use the frozen sperm to have another baby. Given the popularity of the cartoons at the time, the birth of her son Milo from IVF was worldwide news, although she was condemned too, mainly by Catholics, including Vatican newspapers who condemned her for going "against evangelical morality". Her youngest son, Milo Casali, was born in 1977. He and his older brother Dario were a big part of the early Doom mapmaking community. They eventually caught the eye of John Romero, and were brought in to develop the mapset The Plutonia Experiment, which was one half of The Final Doom. From there they moved on to making maps for Quake, and eventually careers at Valve, including working on Half Life and Half Life 2.

I don't know about that but it certainly is a classic case of "[conservative talking point or opinion]" - black people - a white person They probably could easily get socially conservative and/or older black people to vote Republican if they were less openly racist, but alas for them

Ramirez proving a broken clock is right twice a day. Feels a bit gross. On the other hand I am waiting with bated breath for when Trump is the nominee and if he'll fall in line. Also wondering when and why Ramirez, an enormous shithead, took issue with his own kind. Did it happen between 2016-2020 or during the Biden years?Skios posted:I'm going to take this opportunity to append this hateful doodle with a related fun fact. Whoa!! What a weird combination of trivia that has personal significance to me. Like many others in this thread, I have a weird attachment to boomer-rear end newspaper comics, so I got the Love Is… reference immediately. (For it to be a real parody, they’d both have to be nude for some reason.) But let me share a story about Dario Casali: when I was in high school, I was getting into half-life 2 deathmatch mapping. The map editor (…”hammer?” I think) had just been released, and it was my understanding that this was the same tool they used internally at valve to make the game maps. When it released it wasn’t very well documented at first, presumably because if you worked at valve and had some kind of question you could just walk down the hall and ask the person who wrote the tool. (I’m sure it was also easier to use if you weren’t an inexperienced teenager.) Anyway, I couldn’t figure out how to do certain things and it wasn’t like community wikis existed yet. So I went to valve’s corporate site, found a directory, and saw that the lead level designer was some guy named Dario Casali. It listed his work number, so I gave him a call! He listened patiently to my list of questions, then a beat passed. “…yeah. How did you get this number?” (He was gracious about the whole thing and told me to email him instead, and answered all my questions a day or two later. Cool guy!)
