Lol the most occupy did at UNM while I was there was set up an environment where a homeless dude was allowed to die of alcohol poisoning on a bench and get all protests banned on campus for a few weeks until the right and left came together on that issue

it's less about protection and more about admitting that it was foolish to ever expect the centrist party of the status quo to be making change, and it seems like a lot of people are just upset they got sold the idea that liberalism is the furthest left we can go in this country, which the dems absolutely indulged in promoting, and it's left a lot of people feeling very very burned but that is not the same as the poo poo that the hard right authoritarians are doing. one is just clearly demonstrably worse as a party.
