Pope: Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape urges Australia to not 'give up' on his country in historic parliament address (ABC). Papua New Guinea’s NRL bid out to bring benefits beyond the rugby league field (Guardian). Rowe: Nemesis is the ABC documentary about all the bad blood in the Coalition during the Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison years. That's former Labor leader Bill Shorten in the fridge, who had a role in toppling leaders in the Rudd & Gillard years and then ran and won against Albanese for opposition leader. AFAIK he's been happy in his current role as Minister for Government Services so I think this is just David Rowe poo poo stirring. Wilcox: Call to cancel renewable rollout, Nationals declare bush is full (SMH). Nationals leader David Littleproud is dog on left, former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce is dog on right (although "large hat and red face" isn't conclusive with the Nats). Katauskas: Leak, Son of Leak: Right to disconnect from work laws set to pass Australian parliament after deals with crossbench (Guardian). Tony Burke, Minister for Industrial Relations on the left, who is working on passing a "closing loopholes" IR bill. Both Leaks have always drawn the Unions as that guy, despite the peak union body the ACTU's leaders being Michele and Sally and the largest union being the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation.

Cartoons on the NHS dental mismanagement seems to bring up moving dentists to regions with poor access to such specialists, which makes public health sense. Yet articles covering it fixate on price which makes me suspicious their attitude is such things are a waste of money. Is this a situation of a government function found deficient, a reasonable solution is proposed, and the whole political/media sphere gnashes their teeth the government is trying to do its job?

The closest Orwell quote is "The masses never revolt of their own accord, and they never revolt merely because they are oppressed." So it's actually cited correctly, but also *SOME GIZMO

I haven;t checked this thread in months and months, and the first thing I see when I get back is a Branco cartoon where Biden has somehow stamped the items on a conveyer belt both ahead of and behind him. I have said it before and will say it again; Branco is the worst. By far. It took me 10 seconds in this thread before I saw a Branco in which he failed as both a political commentator and cartoonist.
