How's the grenade launcher and flamethrower?

Hail to the King, baby.

I think there's a separate Discord for just this game, but there's a bunch of us on PS5 playing it together in the PlayStation Goon Discord: https://discord.gg/yhNQ2fCy

There's a channel for "Helldivers 2" in the #game-discussion section.

Could at least flip one or two, maybe.
grenade launcher lets you kill holes from afar so that's already top tier, but it's still taking up a slot for dealing with armored enemies.

I found the flamethrower in a mission and it didn't seeeeem great? Setting enemies on fire does damage over time as you'd expect, sure, but it's not enough to kill them in a hurry unless you're actively flaming them. you can ofc set the ground on fire and take off, but you could do that much easier and in a wider radius with a napalm stratagem or failing that the premium inferno grenade. idk it felt like it fell squarely into "I could be doing other things." It is surprisingly ammo efficient, though, a cannister lasted me a bug breach each more or less

it is also a video game flamethrower and pretty short range, so I doubt it'll be useful against robots whatsoever

edit: the flamer like most anti-personel weapons has the issue that it's competing with the machinegun you start with and imo it's worse if only in the range alone

Maybe it changes at higher than "challenging" but the regular heavy machine gun special weapon seems way better than any of the other options. With armor that provides prone/crouch stability it's incredibly accurate, too.

I wonder if they're dynamically adjusting the Galactic War progress as they go, because it seems like Heeth keeps yoyoing between 65% and 55% and if that keeps up we're not gonna finish OPERATION VALIANT ENCLOSURE in 6 days.

The length of the post-game rewards screen is a bit long but it's nice to have enough time to take a few substantial bites of my sandwich after a long 30 minute mission.

Grab the bullshit by the horns

Man, some weapons have really good alternate fires, the default machine gun can be made to fire 50% faster, it's nuts.

Also, landing a minefield call beacon on a bug is extremely funny, it carried the minefield into the middle of my group, tons of fun.

I was trying to figure out the options menu on PC, I changed my "aim" button to be a toggle instead of a hold, and "change aim" doesn't seem to be working to toggle to first person. I saw the "Dynamic Aim" option in the controls and it says that you have to be using Hold for Aim and have this on to be able to use first person at all.

So doesn't that mean that the Change Aim keybind doesn't do anything besides this one function? So if yoou use a toggle aim then there's no way to go to first person?

Man I had the most exciting mission ever when my entire three person team disappeared for some reason and I had to finish the second objective and call down the Evac all by myself with the game still to tuned for four players on challenging. That was fun and tense as hell. I did die once and it instantly sent me back down, I wonder how many times it'll do that when solo? Mostly it was me just desperately scrambling around trying to get a second to set up some strategems.

I also have a question, are there only two planets right now? Or are there more and they're locked behind level restrictions?

Which also brings up: is the counter percent for freeing a planet real or is it just there until they make more planets? When will I see the robot menace and not just bugs?

There are already 2 automaton planets available, you just need to click on the one automaton sector on the galactic war map and you can do missions there, they just aren't part of the global order objective to kill bugs.

Robot menace is the red part on the Galactic map to the left, click there instead of bug side to pick a planet and fight bots.

It should still work. In controller at least, first person aim is a toggle (right stick press) and it stays that way every time you aim until you press it again. Pretty sure it works if aim down sights is a toggle as well although I admit I'm a bit confused what your question is

I like the laser cannon a lot. It's not quite as strong but pretty easy to aim and if you never burn it out it has infinite ammo which is nice not to worry about. You can burn it out once too without restocking.

What's the best main gun at low levels you think? I have the explosive machine gun not I didn't really like it. The smg seems kinda good especially since it is very easy to aim and has little recoil

So by default ADS is hold right mouse, but I changed it to toggle on a thumb mouse button.

The description for "Dynamic Aim" is something like "Hitting the change aim button (default middle mouse) while ADS switches to first person, but only if your ADS button is set to hold"

So my question was is there a way to get to first person _besides_ this Dynamic Aim option.

I've had better luck finding spots on the planet that show a game in progress, and joining those, than using quickplay. Joining some of these games still doesn't work but I can look around for one that does. I'm wondering if quickplay attempts to join the same game over and over?

Speaking of chargers, I was hitting a mission target charger with SEAF strikes and it didn't seem to respond. Was it likely taking damage or is there some sort of anti-cheese mechanic where you have to engage the charger before it takes damage?

Managed to complete a helldive(max) difficulty operation with pubs and that was some poo poo, just constant titans and chargers back to back to back with barely any room to breathe. Seems like anti tank weaponry and call ins are a must, so far I have found the autocannon + rocket turrets to be some of the best ways to keep the tanky bugs down(as long as you can protect them from getting destroyed).

My understanding is that eagles have x amount of call ins, once they're depleted you need to rearm to get more

Starts a (by default) 150 second cooldown on all your Eagle call-ins, and once it's done you get uses refilled. The Eagle will also do this automatically if you use up all your Eagle call-ins.

Yep, you have X number of quick cooldown charges, and once they are depleted there's a longer rearm timer to replenish those initial X charges. Once you use a charge, my understanding is that Rearm stratagem pops in to let you prematurely kick off the rearm manually if you want.

Ah, I see. Not sure, sorry, but if it doesn't work and the text is like that then I'd assume not. I'm confused why it would be that way, seems like whether ADS is toggle or hold shouldn't matter for determining first person vs third person aiming. That is weird
