It's extremely episodic, yeah. The framing story doesn't have a real plot to it as of this point and I don't know if it ever will.

It's added the bits about the Demon Lord being asking for more secrets that's not in the manga which is their loose way of trying to tie all of the episodes together.

I quite enjoyed the bits where they actually play mahjong, it's just that that's been like, 10% of the show so far, and the other 90% is an extremely generic and unfunny slice of life show. Proportionally speaking it's a cooking show more than it's a mahjong show at this point.

yeah i only watched the first two episodes but it felt very lacking script-wise. most slice of life shows that make it thru the anime pipeline these days feel like theyre being made by genre specialists who know what they're doing whereas this just didnt

an anime would not be able to handle Ritz's fanservice predilections. Also Nodoka's...those.

I believe in studio gokumi and think they will draw the saki characters in a way that’s actually bearable

I wouldn't have expected for a character like her to appear in a show like this but it really works somehow!

and the monster's head bouncing off the pavement every time she hits it, holy poo poo

Im on holidays now so with my free time I decided to check out at least one more new show.

The instant death isekai show.. isnt terrible? Like, its got one gimmick, but they somehow just run with the absurdity of it all instead of trying to overexplain or play it down. And it kind of works. Probably helps that the MC is a total doofus in the vein of Kazuma from Konosuba. Not exactly a season stealing show or anything, but its good enough Ill probably finish it.

Yeah, this has been a pretty good season for good-enough fantasy. Instant Death is a funny trainwreck, Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic is a refreshingly strait take, and Unwanted Undead Adventurer is a nice chill progression fantasy.

The instant death one works because they made the entire cast a bunch of total lunatics and they just kind of makes the whole thing fun

The show knows it's a trashy set up and leans into it which makes it fun watch

there's one thing in the instant death isekai that I really hope they get to it in the anime. here is a link to the part of the manga that includes it for those curious, it's chapter 33, so it might be too far ahead for them to get to. it's also a neat little thing almost devoid of context to the larger series, so while it is a spoiler, it's not that big of one. but yeah, that part more than anything made me go "oh this really is the one punch man of isekai"

Oh yeah that certainly helps. I also liked how a few of the other characters have already been isekai'd at least once and are broken from the experience, making them believable lunatics.

Its also funny that the fantasy world has such a ridiculous amount of isekai protagonists they have to just go with it, get them all in a queue, here have a japanese restraunt etc

I liked how she went out the door like a proper lady, not mentioning the ten or so guards she had to take out to go that way. Those poor guards, they thought they had cornered a sheep, when it was the wolf who waited for them.
