Ask me about that time I told people mixing bleach and vinegar is okay
I killed my first bile titan by myself in a party of 4

I ran in solo, ran away so far I went out the map and got declared a traitor and then the shots that killed me killed the titan.

The only rewards I think I lost were from my last match the night before "the big patch"

At this point darktide is solid and a pretty safe rec as long as it doesn’t hate your PC, I’d say it originally launched good with five asterisks but at this point it’s good with one asterisk

Also if you’re waiting for helldivers 2 issues to be fixed like I am, I revisited the first game the other week and it still really holds up. great game if you have a full group of friends for it.

the problem with chargers is that yeah while there is a way to deal with them they're not a boss enemy, they're just an elite

they come in commonly, then suddenly make everything about them. they also can hit you multiple times and one hit kill you which is incredibly tedious and depends entirely on how you ragdoll

Light armor for bugs, normal or heavy for robots imo

Chargers you can kite forever.
Getting randomly hit by green blobs and slowed can get you murdered extremely quickly.

I do need to play around with different armor for sure - faster sounds very useful, since I've been running medium the whole time (because it is gold encrusted)

Yeah, heavy armor seems like it'd be a lot more useful against automatons. Against those you're liable to take a lot more chip-damage rather than the all-or-nothing hits more common from bugs.

But of course the most important armor stat against any enemy is looking cool. :colbert:

Chargers become sooooo much easier when you play chicken with them. They don't handle sharp turns well so if you run directly to their left/right and then pivot to shoot them in the rear end they drop fairly quick.

Automatons are such a jump in difficulty compared to bugs. Thinking you’re king poo poo cause you can handle bugs at higher difficulty and then dropping into a bit planet on the same difficulty goes from Starship Troopers to space Vietnam real quick

Regarding the XP/Reward loss problem: Some people on Reddit are saying playing a mission in a different game mode (single vs multiplayer) will make the previous rewards pop. I haven't had a chance to test it so I can't confirm

My experience with it last night is that it wasn't lost, just delayed. You wouldn't see it until you ran another drop.

It seems like a love it or hate it weapon - but I am really on the love it side of the arc cannon. It's damage isn't especially great and it's kind of unpredictable, but the infinite ammo and full armor piercing and high stun value are huge against a number of highly annoying enemies that start showing up in the higher difficulties, like the heavy rocket robots, hive commanders, and the like. It can even wear down the chargers and dreadnoughts over a long enough time and blow off chunks off their armor and make it easier for the other players to take it out.

I am liking the Explosive Liberator a lot; sure it doesn't *blow up* when you shoot things with it but the slower ROF and high damage to weak points makes it pretty great for mid range engagements.

Great nailbiter challenge 4 mission with Seedge last night, extract with no respawns, less than 2 mins and chargers all over the extract pad. :blastu:

And on Sat night I dropped into a challenge 4 and was eventually abandoned by all 3 pubbies. It was my first Bile Titan. I opted to use the RR against it at as far of a distance as I could, got down to my last respawn, killed it, dodged 3 huge waves, and got the extract by the skin of my teeth.

Don’t get me wrong, Darktide is absolutely the best game I’ve played in giving the player the full 40k “experience” in every way. I feel like Helldivers does the “puny human in the face of unintelligible alien powers” vibe even better, though, and even though their story beats are far fewer than Darktide I feel like the rest of the game fits much more cohesively with the play than DT’s does

Yeah you joust them kinda similar to bears in Icarus - when they’re close enough, run at them but maybe like 20-30 degrees to a side and they go right past

You can set your character voice to random - as in each Helldiver dropped will have a randomly assigned voice - so it’s absolutely the next recruit in line. Makes sense with the videos and destroyer animations too - at the end of training everyone gets on the helldiver tube, and the tube launches into space to connect to the helldiver ship & shoot bullets full of helldiver at the planet

Just to give some context on the launch issues many have experienced. It's not that they had a terrible launch, it's that it did a bit TOO well vs projections.

Devs via Steam posted:

Hey Everyone,

Thank you for your patience during the server maintenance. With it we deployed three “rapid-fixes” aimed at improving the situation with rewards often not being handed out properly, login-issues, and server capacity.

To speak in technical terms, our services as well as our partner services have a rate limiter that denies connections beyond a volume per minute to prevent the entire system from failing. We managed to increase the rate limit from 10,000/min to 20,000/min and the total capacity of concurrent players was increased from 250,000 total to 360,000 total. This was however still not enough as the player count jumped to 360k after 5 1⁄2 minutes.

As such, the issue with login remains. If for any reason you get the “Failed to connect to server”issue it means that the maximum number of login requests for that particular minute is exceeded and/or that the servers are full and will require someone to log out before allowing new players in. As mentioned above, the increased capacity should require less retries to get in.

As for the reward issue, the fix was mitigated but not resolved. And without additional server maintenance this will still not work as intended. If you get the issue you can try rebooting the game to increase the chances of it being reset. This is due to the high traffic on the servers leading to rewards not being tracked correctly by our servers.

I know the progression issue is frustrating, especially for newer divers that want to unlock sweet gear. For now, please once again accept our sincere apologies for the issues you’re facing and rest assured, we’re doing our utmost to make it right. In order to do so, right now it is crucial that our team gets some sleep and we will be back at this again in a few hours.

Regards,
Johan

It seems like you're not the only one! Maybe I'm biased, I think Darktide just absolutely nails the atmosphere. It's been great seeing the 'tide goons from my friends list on here and the games preference to put me in their games is pretty cool. It is interesting to see the reaction to this game versus Darktide. I think Darktide was a bit more thoroughly broken and the itemization/progression was definitely worse, but the rage over "how dare you have a cash shop while the game released in a broken state" is like night and day from here.

Loving this game, though. Machine gun + supply pack is amazing, keeping yourself and people topped up on supplies is super helpful.

Latest updates from their Discord:

quote:

We have an announcement for @everyone regarding server status and upcoming maintenance from the Arrowhead team:

Hey folks!

We have another update regarding our server related issues. In this maintenance we are continuing to tackle two of our biggest issues, that of the game not supplying you with your rewards properly at the end of missions and the reoccurring login failures.

This continues to be very important for us to fix as soon as possible and as such, we've decided to perform server maintenance in about 10 minutes. We anticipate that this will take roughly 45 minutes. As always when making changes in a live environment, we need to address this with caution and monitor the situation closely. Note that during this maintenance we expect there to be larger disruptions to the servers for a limited period of time.

We look forward to fighting alongside you for democracy after!
