aahhhhhh in 2 weeks i can get a new work keeb! leaning towards nuphy gem80. definitely getting boba 62ts and drop+mito godspeeds. the numphy has different plates available including one (POM) that sounds like the most thock possible. current keeb is an 8bitdo fami (very cool!) with glorious pandas. they feel awesome, yet bobas feel better echinopsis posted:thock supremacy absolutely, although i've found pandas are too heavy (67g!) for gaming. both pandas and bobas make other tactile switches feel like mush. Pooper Hero posted:kailh box whites are the best clicky switches the 8bitdo comes with box whites, i absolutely can't stand them or any clicky switches* at all. too tinny high pitch bs. sure i type a good 5wpm faster on them, but it's not worth it. wife has a k8 with g pro yellows and likes it a lot *8bitdo comes has two giant novelty buttons with cherry greens and they're great for it- the sound is very unique (high click with a low echo) and the greens have enough rebound for the button to be responsive

switch-of-the-month subscriptions holiday-themed modifiers-and-such keycap programs firmware customization services (ok seriously why does my num lock light only work half the time?) big try-before-you-buy library

I don’t think there’s much money to be made in a dedicated mechanical keyboard store but the computer store that sells mechanical keyboards by me has all kinds of switch samplers and tester things to try out different kind of switches

up at 1am thinking about either: getting/making a 40% ortholinear keyboard -or- going full sicko and designing a 3 part split keyboard with a bank of extra programmable keys, and low force switches hmm

thinking heavily about the chocofi split ortholinear. seems this hobby gets expensive when you factor in switches and keycaps and controllers tho. how are AliExpress keyboards so cheap

yeah when i see those types of boards the only way i can think of building one is starting from a barebones. its really hard to even find a prefab one piece 40% board, i was wanting to find one on a lark just for laughs, but i don't want a Keyboard Project, i want a keyboard

yeah I was looking at picking up a cheap 40% like that at first, but apparently orthos in that form factor are bad for your wrists, I def want a split with tenting
