I finally got around to trying the piano minigame. It's a lot of fun! Got B on the second try (though pretty close to A). It's finicky but makes sense once you get a feel for it. The only part that confused me a bit was how much you need to release the stick between notes. It's neat how, once you start building up a combo, the song starts sounding better and more complex. I hope they have a lot of tracks added for the minigame, like it implies when you first do it.

I got a C on the piano thing, which is pretty impressive for me considering that I suck at doing co-ordinated things with dual sticks, but it was very helpful that I knew what the music was. God, the music in the remake and so far in Rebirth is so good.

Are there any good guides for how to play Yuffie in Intermission? Her mechanics are pretty complex and the game gives like a one sentence explanation for most of them. Related to that, I hope Rebirth has some sort of training mode to test out skills and combos

I read through the novel Traces Of Two Pasts because I'm apparently determined to burn out on FFVII content until Rebirth comes out. I actually enjoyed Tifa's story covering her time pre and post Nibelheim massacre. I liked it showing how hosed up it was in the slums while still having the people have some form of community. Also they never really get into how much everything just sucked for Tifa that if they pull a curveball in remake and kill her I'm gonna be so pissed I think Aeriths story was more the translation I got being sorta a mess then bad but I didn't enjoy it as much.

Not that I recall. The most detail you get is from the Gast Tapes. The Weapons were created to defeat Jenova (who dealt a wound to the planet so serious it never healed, i.e: Northern Crater) but the Cetra stopped Jenova before the Weapons were deployed, but the planet couldn't just un-create them so they got put into slumber. DoC has Omega, whose job it is to gather all the Lifestream it can and be effectively an escape pod if the planet is for-real doomed. Whatever else there is to be said about Dirge of Cerberus (and there's a LOT to be said about it), I genuinely think Omega WEAPON and its purpose are a great addition to the overall lore and completely make sense with what we know of the Planet an the Lifestream in the original game, and even having the villains "artificially" activate Omega via mass genocide is a great villain plot. It's just, y'know, everything else about the game.

The sleeve is pretty nice quality so you could probably easily turn it into a little mini poster or something. Me and my roommate were immediately suckered mostly just because we'd been wanting cookies already anyways right before the announcement.

I finally beat the first game. (My saves said the last time I played was May 2020 lol). Considering I completely forgot the controls, it only took me three tries on Motorball and died once against Whisper Bahamut. That final section was some Kingdom Hearts-level nonsense, but hey. I guess I'm moving on to Intermission and the demo now.
