I read up the Indonesia election a little more, it looks like the new guy got the secret endorsement of the old guy (Widodo) because the old guy's son is selected as the running mate of the new guy even though he is in a different party as Widodo. Widodo's son who was 37 he was not even age qualified for running but that law was conveniencely changed by the constitutional court, which was in charged by the 37 yo kid's uncle-in-law. Talk about coincident.

This reminds me of the Duterte-Marcos power sharing arrangement. edit: the deal probably was made 5 years ago, because this guy was named as minister of defense on Widodo's cabinet after he lost to Widodo in the last election.

Also according to the new guy's wiki he is not a hawk against China in the CSC business.

Also, Indonesian politicians like to wear hoodies and sweaters in their campaigns, that kind of make me like them a little bit more.

So let's take that line of reasoning on its face and break it down:

China is finally collapsing. This is good, we are happy because they deserve it. However their collapse is very likely to spread to us.

Soooo why the gently caress are you cheering, exactly? The dumbest, most vindictive motherfuckers I swear.

China are Bad Guys and if they hadn't perniciously swindled the world into propping up their economy (fake, potentially gay) then nobody would want to help them or give them money (except weak Putlers who can send them knock-off Big Macs)

If China's economy collapses and brings ours down, we'll recover because The West is all about bros helping each other through the power of Democratic Empathy & Freedom, but China will permanently collapse and be literally BEGGING us for money because nobody REALLY likes them or wants to work with them

China Watchers / "Rules-Based-International-Order" fans seem to have a bit of a sadistic bent where they want to not only overthrow the bad guy enemies in Xi and Putin but also want to humiliate the countries and put things "back the way they should be" (i.e, Russia and China are like other developing nations and will debase themselves to get some IMF loans or "economic considerations")

Well Japan still has 40% more population than Germany. I don't know the working population breakdown.

But if Japan keeps electing different favors of LPD to run the country, it's not going to have any big chance any time soon.

LDP put themselves in the corner with the nuclear water dispute, they could have attracted more Chinese tourists with that cheap yen. Also Japan imposed more semiconductor sanctions to China for some mysterious reason. I don't think neither SK nor Taiwan does that.

japan times guy posted:

By the way, did you hear former President Donald Trump's recent remarks about NATO? Yes, Trump said that he had told the president of a "big" country that if it did not pay its bills, he would not protect it from a Russian invasion and would even "encourage (Russia) to do whatever the hell they want.” It is not hard to imagine that NATO countries are vehemently opposed to this view, but what do you think, your excellency?

If Trump is reelected, do you think he will do the same to America’s allies such as Japan, South Korea, Australia and the Philippines? Or do you think that Trump will take tough measures against your country like he did last time? Your excellency, if you think Trump's reelection is preferable to that of President Joe Biden's because a second Trump administration would wreak more havoc on the United States and American diplomacy would lose its compass, that would be a big mistake.

Sound like the Japanese are shaking in their boots the Trump will threw themselves out like trash can.
