Every time I've tried to complete a set of 3 suicide missions something invariably goes wrong with the network. It would be cool if they could add a rejoin feature, but at the very least I'd like the game to remember my mission status if the game crashes. It's like 2 hours of straight gaming just hoping that nothing goes wrong with the network. Narrator: It did.

Just played the escort event mission with someone who brought three walking barrages and a shield pack, dropped us well outside the objective and completely ignored the buttons. Pretty sure they thought it was a defence mission. I managed to get around 10 escorts done by madly running between two buttons while they did nothing - I was booted after we failed. Probably for not spending all my time killing robots

Nah. There's nothing to see here.
yes, there's cloaked bugs. They're obvious as hell most of the time though: the "cloak" is actually kinda shiny. You'll miss them if you're knee deep in bugs already but when you have a moment to breathe they're trivially easy to spot.

I'd have so many more medals to spend on war bonds and equipment if I didn't insist on trying a few robo defenses now and then.

Stalkers would be much less frustrating if they could be flinched via damage. Annoying to be dumping shotgun shells into them but they just keep coming at you and do their tongue attack that knocks you down for ages.

That Civvie escort mission that's on every single Automaton operation is just straight up impossible unless you have a full premade set up specifically for it, and even then it's ridiculously difficult. Bots drop in literally faster than you can kill them and there's no way I'm doing 7 more of these in the current state, lol.

At level 20 you have tools like the personal shield, EM mortar, and orbital railgun, that make things more manageable.

Also, if theres 10 minutes to end the mission and civs are 20/40, then it does not look good. So probably makes a lot of sense to have one person in each button, to rush the civilians, and another dude, AFK or floating around helping people.

The menu design and tutorialization of all the functions of the ship could definitely use some work. The game just goes "Here's your ship, here's where you pick missions, go blow some stuff up."

Turns out there’s different variations of em and only one of em counts? We did a bug nest clearing missions and we shot a BUNCH of em and got no credit. Turns out the mission is specifically asking for the yellow versions of them (easier ones). I did a challenging kill Titan mission and it had a lot of them to kill. The orange bile spewers are not counting for the mission.

It just kinda feels like the way to solve the defense missions is by forcing a solution past a bugged spawn rate rather than a fun way to play a mission.

The buttons can be pressed as soon as you drop - that's 9 scientists in the shuttle before the bots even have a chance. If you spam all the buttons on cooldown you can finish the objective pretty quick, before the spawns really start escalating.

I had bots overwhelming the entire area basically as we touched down, I made it to the first button in maybe under a minute and could not stop dying. I guess we need to get good but it does not feel quite as 'bing bong so simple' as just get there before the bots do. We just said gently caress it and fought bugs for the rest of the night.

There's also the expectation that something like medium should be doable as a moderately casual game where you don't need to practice your dance routine to complete the mission, and no reasonable person can say it is when you compare it to the other mediums on offer.

BastardySkull
Apr 12, 2007

You might be able to do it, but is it fun? Even if there was a more manageable rate of spawns I'm not convinced it's a particularly enjoyable mission anyway. That would be fine if there was a bit more variety on the bot planets but each operation seems to have one of these.

Yeah I think this is the problem, we've been largely sticking to medium as I bring my friends up to speed and that felt like an impossible task for us on medium. It was immediately clear that something is hosed and none of us were having any fun so we just bailed.

That doesn't change the fact that many people feel that they're playing something that looks bugged, and come away with a poorer experience for it.

Does shooting down dropships actually destroy the units they're carrying?

I thought the point of the Automaton missions was to lose. Like after a certain point the Automatons will overrun the sector and there'll be some kind of story advancement.

The subreddit is saying that the mission is bugged by indicating you have 40 minutes to do it (on the drop screen) but you when you land it shows only 15 minutes. It’s purposely overrunning you with bots because the mission parameters are proper hosed.

Missions success not being tied on you actually extracting is great. Played a lot last night and I genuinely love how the game inverses the power fantasy of these games: your (current) character is utterly and completely expendable. They will probably die. Makes the few successes where your stratagems and scrambles line up ad you manage to live feel so more earned.

This would be a pretty lovely way to handle this considering the global objective is up for a while. If like today they say "wow these bots huh how about SOME MECHS??" then sure but I can't imagine they want people ignoring bot missions for days because the story calls for it.

Yeah, if we were supposed to be losing you'd think there would be rewards for it? I don't think the devs expect players to fail a mission over and over because of the ~lore~.

Hard to tell. As far as I can tell, units don't specifically go down with the ship if they detach before you shoot it down. You have to scramble hard to hit the engine fast enough. However, if the dropship crashes onto unit without killing them, those units often get stuck and essentially are out of the fight.

Does this game have serious problems tracking quest completion or what?

There's two kind of spitters, bile spewers and nursing spewers. Only the bile spewers counted for the order iirc.
