I like to watch CinemaSins and Honest Trailers for all the movies I'm curious about but don't want to watch. It's like Cliff's Notes with commentary notes to use in conversation to "prove you watched it."

When I travel I like to be constantly on the move. Only staying in one place for at most three or so days then moving on. Otherwise I get bored.

Moving is the closest thing to being free.

Also I'm a weirdo.
This is more my speed. For our honeymoon, we went to Italy and did 4 cities in 10 days. Perfect. A year before, we had an extended family vacation at a beach condo for 7 days and I wanted to claw my eyes out. But to be fair, any more than 2 days at the beach is overkill.

I have to be in tourist mode when I travel because I can't relax when I travel. I relax at home. That is my comfortable place. Travel is enjoying experiencing the world but always just on the cusp of a panic attack.

I got this title for the dumbest fucking possible take on sea shanties. Specifically, I derailed the meme thread because sailors in the 18th century weren't woke enough for me, and you shouldn't sing sea shanties. In fact, don't have any fun ever.

Well, there's a pretty big disparity in the sizes of bugs in real life.

Airports really highlight how dumb and unaware a lot of the population is. I could go on for a while about why but this isn’t the pet peeves thread.

And Maggie and Marge.

Took me decades to figure out Maggie is named after her mom.

(Though Marge's full name might actually only be Margery not Margaret )

Margaret stems from the French name Marguerite, which also happens to be the name of a type of daisy.

Margaret also went Maggie > Meggy > Peggy

I was reminded about more of these great/not immediately obvious nicknames while rewatching Better Call Saul: Nacho (Ignacio), Lalo (Eduardo), even Tuco (Alberto). Then there's Chuy (Jesús) and Poncho (Alfonso). So many diminutives that seem entirely disconnected from the original names--I love it.

It’s pretty easy to connect Nacho and Ignacio but the rest, totally. To add, Paco is a nickname for Francisco. I don’t get it, but sure.
