ultimately all regional support for Israel comes from one of two sources:
1) delusion that zionists won’t cleanse us too once they’re done with Palestinians
2) thinking that we can get something in the meantime and of course we’ll be able to jump off the tiger’s back just in time

The Israelis screwed over the South Lebanese Army pretty hard, leaving them hanging when Israel withdrew and Syria moved in. Hezbollah has also worked hard to build a relationship with Christians, sending out Christmas cards and things like that. This mirrors developments in Gaza, where Hamas has worked to reassure the surviving Christian community that they are their protectors against the Israelis.

France engineered the political structure of Lebanon to teeter on imbalance between Christians and Muslims, Syria as well, to a degree. Obviously this puts them in a precarious position where they might want to look to outside intervention in times of crisis. I think now most people have come around to understanding Israel as a cause of the crisis and resulting sectarianism rather than a good-faith actor and protector of Christians.

If you're Lebanese, look at the plight of Christians in the West Bank and even Israel, how could you think Israel is the choice to side with here?

The Christian-Israeli connection is from people on the outside looking in, almost entirely American Evangelical protestants, or members of American-style Evangelical churches abroad. I don't even know what to say about that, other than it's detached from the reality of what Israeli occupation of the Holy Land has meant, and conditions for Christians in Palestine.

evangelical Christians don’t really care about the reality. they already think all those Arab Christians are going to Hell for not being Protestant.

Report: Netanyahu agrees to limit Arab-Israeli worshipers on Temple Mount during Ramadan

quote:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a demand by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to limit Arab-Israeli worshipers on the Temple Mount during Ramadan, despite a warning against doing so by security officials, according to an unconfirmed Channel 13 report.

The Shin Bet was said to warn that such a move is likely to further inflame tensions, especially any move that applies to Israeli Arabs and those with permanent residence. The Israel Police, however, is reportedly said to favor such a move.

The flashpoint site is often a point of tension, particularly during Ramadan, which is slated to begin in mid-March.

you're right on the first part but enlisted soldiers aren't deployed based on race. the enlisteds in the army are more likely to be minorities than the general public because selling your body to the empire is one of the few dwindling ways to find financial and health security in america. it's a very different issue than the press secretary being black

Also those were REMFs, and REMFs in the states lean towards minorities and women while the combat arms are mostly white and male.

Report: Gallant, Gantz oppose move to limit Arab-Israeli worshipers on Temple Mount

According to Channel 13 news, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and war cabinet minister Benny Gantz vocally opposed the decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to go along with a demand by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to limit Arab-Israeli worshipers on the Temple Mount during Ramadan.

“The prime minister is circumventing the security establishment and, due to that, we will make mistakes, ” Gallant reportedly tells the meeting, referring to the opposition of the Shin Bet and the IDF to the decision.

“This is not unity and not a cabinet. This is not how we work,” Gantz reportedly reacts as well.

This isn't true. There's actually an over-representation of non-white officers, and an over-representation of white enlisted. Most troops come from backgrounds wealthier than the average person. The poverty draft doesn't exist. US troops are just scum.

Black people, and more specifically black women, are significantly overrepresented in the US Army relative to the general population, although they're significantly under-represented if you look at the armed forces as a whole.

Similarly, Hispanic people are overrepresented in the USMC, but underrepresented in every other branch.

Natives were historically massively overrepresented in the military and there are a fuckload of old veterans on every reservation, but this trend has completely reversed in recent decades and we are now slightly under-represented.

Asians and Pacific Islanders are underrepresented in every branch.

Overall, the Marines are very white, the Coast Guard are very very white, the Air Force and Army are about as white as the general population, and the Navy is actually slightly less white than the general population, which is kind of interesting.

I am genuinely happy that the 'poverty draft' effect doesn't really exist anymore because the thought of kids signing up for the Army to get off the rez is so loving depressing. I can't help but wonder how much of that is due to the increasingly visible and heavy-handed repression rez natives have been subjected to in recent years, with the latest generation of young people growing up being treated as the enemy by uniformed white men with guns and American flag patches

PM’s office avers that freedom of religion will be respected during Ramadan

Amid reports that he agreed to limit the number of Arab-Israeli worshipers allowed on the Temple Mount during Ramadan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office pushes back.

In a statement, the PMO says that Netanyahu “made a balanced decision that allows freedom of religion with necessary security limits, which have been set by professional officials.”

“Any other report is incorrect,” the statement adds, without elaborating on what decision was made and what restrictions will be put in place.
