My hands are all roughed up, and it's not like manual labor hands. Which I know well. It's overall, everything equal. Like chapped. Borderline painful between the thumbs and a couple of fingers where the skin as broken. Like bad chapped lips. I think its from winter basketball, and the roughening condition of the basketball. I have new ones, but I'm waiting.

Which I know well. about once a month, between 70% IPA and 6% peroxide exposure + the sheer stress of spending ~11 hours a day, 3-6 days a week wearing two pairs of latex gloves, the top two layers of skin on my hands would just disintegrate away over the course of a couple days it didn't hurt or feel like a chap, but sometimes I'd be doffing gowning in the exit airlock with especially sweaty hands and just watch a bunch of little pieces of skin that rolled up in the glove exit with the sweat real fuckin' aseptic lmao, it's a good thing one-way traffic and blue "DON'T CROSS BACK" lines are magical germ barriers MrQwerty fucked around with this message at 23:25 on Feb 18, 2024 |

i'm sick of constantly calloused and sore hands from knurled barbells they say your hands will toughen up and get used to it, but that's a lie. this year i finally started putting on a pair of gardening gloves for some lifts. usually start bare handed, but when i feel the skin starting to get torn up too much, it's glove time. life is better now. i do have delicate computer toucher hands. maybe if you grew up as a cowhand or something you'll get that hand leather that can withstand metal teeth, but i'm already 40, pretty sure if i don't have beefy sausage hands by now it's never gonna happen.
