Did a squad of warp spiders, minus the exarch. His backpack got lost years ago and I'm waiting for warmer weather to 3d print him a new one.

These models are old as balls but very pleasant to paint. These old Eldar pewters are great.

I was a bit ambivalent painting the Steel Legion grenadier. Very uncomplicated, but it was also a bit too chunky in detailing at times. Or muddled at other times.

So I have a conundrum I need a second opinion on.
Last week I managed to win two Sicaran and Kratos tanks in Epic/Legion scale. (3D printed ones in this case.) But I can't settle on if I should paint them in established Chapter/Legion colors, or figure out something of my own.

They also came with a bunch of turret and sponson options so I'm torn between giving them a turret each, as individual vehicles. Or give them the same weapon, as vehicle teams.
Not that I'll ever play Epic/Legion, but this is still the stuff I tend to think about.

I would also still appreciate some danger.

They're Heresy era tanks, and DIY schemes weren't really a thing until much later.

Obviously do what you like, but I would paint them in a way that ties them to the setting.

Yeah probably, downside is that I don't have any transfers so my Raven Guard tanks would just look black for the most part.

Also, more alien birds!

Don't feel obligated to go with one of the eighteen legions. You are welcome to make up your own schemes in 30k. It's a way to represent isolated parts of the legions that didn't necessarily get the memo on the accepted shades of blue or whatever. There are also blackshield warbands that can look like anything.

I assembled and painted two Kratos tanks and used the different loadouts because I wanted an excuse to paint different models (I too will never play the actual game) as well as having slightly different deco patterns for each loadout.

I went with World Eaters because the Heresy-era World Eaters scheme is cool, Betrayer is one of the best Black Library books, and I am amused by the idea of World Eater tank crews. In my headcanon they've got a magos to wire the Nails into the tank's feedback sensors.

Yes yes yes yes I have been waiting for this since it was first announced but I was not expecting that we'd be AdMech or get a special water arquebus. I am delighted and still holding out hope for getting to power wash the Golden Throne.

It's a good game. I don't find it soothing, per se, but it's basically Flow State: The Game.

Probably from AoS, like a mascot for a Cities of Sigmar faction miniature, a pet for a Warcry band or it could be a flying off a crows nest on a new Steamtank or a landship or something,

Are there freaks out there painting their guard in some imperial japan khakis or the like? Because the parallels of a suicidally charging a superior foe in the name of the god emperor can't be anymore in your face than it already is.

Now that I have all these MKIII bodies in front of me, there's something about them that I can't quite put my finger on that I don't like about them.

I've also discovered there's only 5 poses for the sculpts, so with 20x bodies sitting in front of me I figure I've got some duplicates to experiment on to change up the poses./silhouettes.
