I remember back in the day getting bored with BG1 a bit after getting to the first tavern, I didn't enjoy that game much. I had a better time with BG2, quitting a bit after getting my stronghold, but I still didn't really like its gameplay.

When I played BG1, I broke the scripting by running away from a difficult fight on the highest level of the tower. When I came back after some grinding, another difficult battle triggered in the same room, while the other enemies were still there. Needed tons of save scumming and cheesy strats to beat those.

Someone asked about the Tomb Raider remasters a few pages back. I started playing TR1 last night and while the new graphics are fine the camera is worse than while playing with the original graphics and Lara's ponytail seems to be alive and pulsating half the time while using those graphics so I just decided to play with the original graphics since this is a way easier method for me to get the original 3 games working in widescreen and with a modern controller. If you're fine with that you'll also need to be fine using the "tank" controls because the modern controls are awful and useless. I'm also fine with that because the games are pretty much 3D versions of the original Prince of Persia game with everything being based around "blocks" you can measure distance for jumps and such with. It's not going to make you a fan of the games if you can't handle old controls but I think they're fine overall. It's very weird how absolutely useless the modern controls are, though, I don't know why they even bothered to have the option if they're going to be so poorly implemented. Also, I didn't check the actual FPS but I think the original graphics run at a lower FPS cap than the modern graphics despite being able to change between them instantly. Dunno if I'd recommend for full price but if they fix the weird hair and give an option to use the classic look around camera in the modern graphics I'd say the collection is worth it then.

All this talk about the first two Baldur's Gates and not even a mention of the Icewind Dale games? For shame. Then we have Planescape: Torment of course. After that, we have Neverwinter Nights games and all of their expansions. Round it off with our comprehensive video game D&D education with Temple of Elemental Evil. Then, of course, there is completing Larian's back catalog before you are ready for Baldur's Gate III.
