I can’t see capeshit having any more mainstream appeal aside from the occasional spider/bat/superman reboot. The MCU had lightning in a bottle but killed it with oversaturation and not having any kind of followup to the Thanos run. They’ve mined any nostalgic arcs the fanbase cared about and any attempts past Thanos have failed to launch. the Battlegrounds and Five Nights movies are probably signs of a market shift. I think the big misstep of the MCU was having any kind of definitive ending at all. it gave people an out to stop caring about the endless deluge. then covid killed theaters for a bit and it really became a past era of the zeitgeist in audiences' minds. instead of giving people a satisfying conclusion, they should have strung everyone along with nonsense for another decade and a half

I recorded an episode about Oh No Its an Alien Invasion!, a terrible canadian cartoon from 2013. I didnt do a good job and wasnt having fun so im shelving it and doing a different one, maybe if i lie in a beanbag in front of the big tv with a bowl of cereal i wont be so cynical, but geez post-aughts canadian animation got loving dire.

im sorry, that was a mean thing for me to say. creativity is hard for everybody, much less taking that creativity and molding it into a performance. Though they may have a large team of people helping their productions, even when all the conditions are perfect, you are always one unflicked switch away from catastrophic failure. i try to cover my lack of production value by putting everything into my performance, but putting everything into things too often can lead to burnout and depression, especially all by myself, so its a wicked line i walk. i try to imagine the nicest person in the world, and the first thing that pops in my head is my girlfriend, however it really should be somebody impartial for the purposes of this exercise, so I think of Mr Joe Pera. I imagine of Joe Pera were watching a show about my life, would he think less of me if I did something, such as throwing shade at people ive never met about other people ive also never met, and I think of his sad face, disappointed that someone who was inspiring him could be so petty. i dont want to make joe pera sad. i wanna be awesome.
