You've got to admit, you are kind of implausible

Already got it. Worth it for the deleted scenes. There was a whole plot line about Durant (Larry Drake) murdering Strack's (Colin Friels) father. Rick's (Ted Raimi) death in the deleted scenes was far different as opposed to the final cut, where in the deleted scenes there are numerous scenes of Peyton stalking Rick and playing mind games with him. We finally get to see the end of Skip (Danny Hicks), Durant's one legged henchman. A big scene that would've been at the beginning with Julie (Frances McDormand) negotiating on behalf of Strack's father (A scene which McDormand was furious Raimi cut out of the film, and pretty much fractured their friendship). Some longer scenes of Peyton with his assistant Yakitito. A scene where Peyton attempts to mimic the movements of Durant's henchman Pauley (Nicholas Worth). Some shots of Peyton moving about in the day.

And yes, there's that infamous scene involving Strack that Bruce Campbell mentioned in his autobiography.

All and all about 37 minutes of deleted scenes.

There's almost always at least 15-20 titles at any time marked down to $8-15 on Amazon.

Just right now I see The Broadway Melody, Queen Christina, Clash by Night, Little Women '33, Tarzan '32, and The Prince and the Showgirl all hovering as low as $9 and as much as $14.

Nah, they'd just make the video uncompressed and AI upres'd so one season would take up one disc.

Occasionally, you'd see a legit company (HBO Video distributed classic Goldwyn at the time) put out LP VHS tapes of long movies. Dances With Wolves from Orion Home Video being one example.

Gold Diggers of 1933 is a great disc. The opening musical sequence with the close-up of Ginger Rogers singing We're in the Money in Pig Latin is absolutely gorgeous. The neon violins scene looks great too. It's a very interesting movie.

On that note, don't sleep on Warner Archive - they've been putting out a ton of interesting and important releases lately, mostly from new 4K transfers of original film elements. Even titles without surviving negatives are getting 4K scans from the next best materials.

Some of the recent highlights:

Gentleman Jim - Errol Flynn boxing film, directed by Raoul Walsh, 4K from nitrate camera negative
Anna Christie - Greta Garbo's first talkie, includes alternate German language version in HD as a bonus
Tarzan the Ape Man - Original 1932 film from new restoration
The Great Ziegfeld - 1936 Best Picture winner, new 4K scan
Rover Dangerfield - New 4K transfer of camera negative
Cabin in the Sky - Landmark all-Black cast and Vincente Minnelli's feature debut as director
The Prince and the Pauper - Errol Flynn action-comedy, 4K from nitrate camera negative
A Day at the Races - Marx Bros. second film for MGM, new 4K scan
Joe's Apartment - 4K scan from camera negative, includes bonus Warner cartoons
The Boob/Why Be Good? - Silent comedy double feature (starring Joan Crawford and Colleen Moore, latter has original Vitaphone track)
They Drive By Night - 4K from nitrate camera negative, great Raoul Walsh-directed film with George Raft, Humphrey Bogart, and Ida Lupino
3 Godfathers - John Ford's 1948 film, new 4K transfers from nitrate Technicolor negatives, with 1936 version fully restored as bonus film

They're also at three volumes of the Looney Tunes Collector's Choice series, with the latest volume coming in late March.

That movie rules! I've gotta read the book sometime, different take as the movie is I think it still works as a cool take on Chandler. The Big Sleep is a really cool book. This is like a proto Big Lebowski as well in some ways. Just a bit of everything. Great flick.
