I remember having to cover up certain LEDs that were on wherever we were sleeping. We stayed over at a friend's house once, sleeping on the pullout bed in the living room, and while I can sleep through practically anything, even I found the huge array of device LED lights they had a bit much.

Oh ya know the last time the topic of "spouses getting mad at game volume so I have to play games with almost no sound" came up, I was recommended to get some open-back headphones. Well, I did hat, and yep they work great! I can keep the game or YouTube video at a reasonable volume and still hear my husband when he want something! It's a game-changer, I tell ya!

prefacing this that this is funny in hindsight but: my partner did not believe me that LEDs bother anybody's eyes, or that eyesight gets worse over time. how can light hurt somebody's eyes? you need light to see, dummie! it got to the point that it became a bitter bone of contention for literal YEARRRSSSS with many sprawling arguments, without resolution or catharsis, until she did the thing where you give up and just break and start humoring the total headcase with a psychosomatic illness to get them to shut the gently caress up about their fake made-up problem then last December she did a quick Google search! whoopsie daisy 🙃

I bought a sleep mask for $10 off of popular online retailer Amazon.com and it works great to keep light out of my eyes. If that didn't work I was gonna start painting all of my light bulbs and windows, but thankfully it hasn't come to that yet.

This isn't like STS or other indie deck games where deck thinning is like the best strat, though the game is a bit swingy in terms of getting the multiplier Jokers. It also depends what you're going for - I didn't do suit thinning here because the last joker gives a 3x bonus for using every suit in a hand, but if you're running a flush-heavy deck you're obviously going to want to thin out one or two suits.

I think one was +1mult every time a specific hand was played which grew pretty loving big, and I think the other was some bonus for just not discarding poo poo. Some of the less great cards become absolute monsters if you get them early on. I'm still trying to figure out the permanence of the changes made to a deck. It feels like, given enough time, you can cull the deck so you have only face cards of 1 suit. So it's royal flushes for 4 of a kinds all day. I don't even like poker and this poo poo is a blast. I think I might like deck builders and that feels really dirty. God help me if I ever find a good one centered around a job system or some poo poo.
