Athens would have had an actual interstate, but Governor Vandiver redirected I-85 to his hometown of Lavonia, which never grew.

I thought it was a spat with the UGA leadership and Vandiver that caused 85 to be up the road. It would be interesting to see how much, if any, extra growth Athens would have had with 85 instead of just 316. 316 just to be horrible. Straight like a highway but with stoplights. They are finally “raising” it and providing off-ramps to most of those stoplights so it doesn’t impede traffic.

I feel like this is most states.

I just did a google search for 'states with worst roads' and was surprised to not see PA in the top 10 on a few random lists I looked at. I would have thought northern states would dominate the list with the constant freeze/thaw cycle but there are quite a few southern states there too.

It’s very funny that there are two Malfunction Junctions on either end of Tennessee. Memphis has the 240/40 clusterfuck that we called Malfunction Junction growing up.

Echoing how much driving in Nashville sucks. The roads were not meant for this many people. Will we do anything to improve them? Nope. What about improving public transit? Hell no. That’s socialism. I hate it here.

The NFL has a record 9 minority head coaches this year, including 3 new black head coaches. I think at theres a pretty good chance that Bienemy is just an rear end in a top hat or a terrible interview or both.

Also the Commanders offense was pretty rear end last year and the Chiefs just won another Super Bowl without him. It’s not all his fault, Sam Howell is not good, but this year was his big audition away from Mahomes and Reid and it kinda flopped.

I don't think this is the end of Bienemy (or at least hope it's not). UCLA was likely the best option left with how long Washington took to settle on Dan Quinn. Still a high profile enough coordinator job. I thought he did solid work for what was a lame duck season with the commies

Yeah, 95 or the Turnpike. It gets confusing in Miami though when people use the numbers and names interchangably, and rarely both. Like you have to know both english and spanish to get the full report.

Bienemy tried to show that he had a hand in KC's success and instead it was shown to be Reid/Mahomes, while the Commies weren't able to do anything special. That the Commies didn't feel the need to put Riverboat Ron out of his misery and at least kick the tires on what a Bienemy-led team looked like.

I doubt he's going to have much, if any success, at an under-funded and over their head UCLA program. He'll probably be a private QB coach to rich high school prospects within a couple of years unless Kirby takes over Saban's Home for Wayward Coaches.

Their receivers are all bad and nobody could catch until the playoffs. But ultimately watching Patrick Mahomes do Mahomes poo poo in the playoffs to win another Superbowl just reinforces the perception that Bienemy wasn’t all that important. Couple that with the Washington offense falling apart at the end of the year and it’s hard to view this year as anything but a setback for Bienemy.

Baltimore is trying to do this. We had a metro line, which would've been our second, approved and ready like a decade ago. Then Freddy Grey happened and "moderate" GOP governor Larry Hogan canceled it using the excuse that he needed to rebuild the city with the money. Never mind he immedietoy turned around and used it to widen highways in the dc suburbs.

The new governor is pushing it forward, but there's a strong movement to swap it for BRT. Which just ugh. That would help much at all.

So yeah. Feel yah on that one.

The point was brought up back in the NFL threads in season that he may have been approached for the interim job and turned it down as a bad gamble. Certain logic I can understand even if I disagree with it. They vastly outperformed expectations even with falling apart fown the stretch. Dude deserves a real shot at OC with a team that isn't directionless (another Hamilton parallel. He was last with the Lovie Texans). Washington didn't make a move till late in the cycle, and they were the only team that gave him an HC interview far as we know. Washington could've blocked any OC interview requests ( I don't know if any were made) as that would've been a lateral move instead of promotion. Just a bummer that he feels like a victim of circumstance atm.

Kirby did bring in Monken for his own foray into The Home.
