Maybe he's one of those celebrities where all their friends call them something different than their stage name.

Good ol' Billy Smith, as all his friends down at the auditing center know him

Rewatch Dick Tracy about a year ago, and become weirdly fascinated that every time someone turns on a radio in the movie, it seems to be playing the same song, "Live Alone and Like It", by Mel Torme. Which then also appears over a montage of Tracy doing poo poo. And then got the song stuck in my head for about a month.

they literally say "your technological and biological distinctiveness will be added to our own"! That's why they scooped up whole settlements, so literally anything of note that another society produced can be broken down and used to enhance the Borg.

Locutus was part of that process! They literally assimilated the concept of negotiation and emissaries from the Federation! It didn't work because they didn't have the mind set to pull it off, but it was an attempt to take a unique thing of utility from another society and add it to the Borg.

It really annoys me how cool and interesting the Borg were before everyone decided they were just robo-zombies.

Hard to imagine the concept of "negotiation" did not exist in the thousands of other species the Borg assimilated.

Age 18 to 49
Weird to see film fans making GBS threads on Nolan like he’s a sellout. He goes out of his way to film everything practically and insists on smooshing 70mm imax cameras where they shouldn’t fit. Have some respect GOD DAMMIT.

I just rewatched Insomnia for the first time in years and it’s a great vibe movie but also Pacino is showing his age, maybe comes off a little too tired.

Framas and thrillers, no excessive gore and no sexuality. No horror. They can handle some language and the occasional scifi.

Last thing I screened for them was Sling Blade, which they loved, but that's a downer. They loved Arrival. They liked No Country but found it paced too slow. Doubly so for The Conversation. They don't really get the quirkiness of Coen Bros stuff.

Any ideas? I would thinking There Will Be Blood. Struggling to think of more middle-of-the-road dramas that are worth watching that won't offend old fogeys too much.

Is Arrival considered middle of the road drama? I thought it was interesting. If they like Arrival then Annihilation is not the same but can feel similar!

I think the Federation were the first force that could actually oppose the Borg that they had encountered in a while. Maybe they had negotiated in the past but over time excised that element of themselves when it stopped being necessary.

That is another interesting idea you could explore with the Borg, the idea of this race attempting to achieve perfection, but all guided by this single intelligence that may have blindspots or it's own prejudices that bend the species' development away from perfection
